Been feeling a little BLUE lately........can you tell why?

Blue seems to be the color of the week. It's a good thing I put serial numbers on every engine. I'm having trouble telling them apart without looking at the numbers.

The ones with the polished blowers are my 925 efi's. They are 598 ci. and will make just over 1000 hp and about 1080 ft lbs torque. The last one I did made 1028 hp (5700 rpm) and 1085 ft lbs.(4200 rpm)

The ones without the blowers are getting 3.3L Whipples. They are 565 ci and we are shooting for 1000 hp. They should make about 1050 ft lbs.

The one NA engine is a 547 ci. It made 688hp and 665 ft lbs. It has some small heads on it that really hurt the power and torque. The customer already had them, so we stuck with them. They are Dart Pro 1 310's.

Roughly how much difference would a set of AFR 325s have made?

A check could possibly jog my memory. It would have to be a pretty big one to get all 5.

I would think it would put it well over 700 hp. I did a very similar setup to this one recently with 335 cnc afr's. It was 540 ci, but the compression was much lower than this one. It was only about 9.2. It made just over 700 hp. I would think this one with a few more inches (mainly a bigger bore to unshroud the valves), more cam, and the larger, better flowing heads would be near 725 hp.

It's funny. I will get runs on certain colors. I almost always do the same color on multiple engines at once. Usually, I will be in the process of doing an engine for one customer and another will see it and say ....hey I like that color, paint mine just like it. Next thing you know, I have 5 of them the same color.
    It always comes in spurts.
