Rick I appreciate the hoist offer but I just ran down to Lowes and picked up 2 - 2x6x12's pressure treated and thru bolted them with some carriage bolts. Then I got some 5x5 aluminum angle from Simmons here in Miami (Cheapest place for your alum. and stainless needs here in South Fl.). I mounted the 2x6 on end on top of the alum. angle and straped them down with a couple of bolts to the alum. angle and used Red Head bolts for the concrete. Just gotta paint it now to match the house and now I have a lift available to me anytime ..... hope the wife likes it since she still doesn't know i did this

Damn,,,i hope it holds 1200 # ..mmmmhhhh

I always figure BBC complete incl. tranny and all acc. ~ 1000 # but i never weight one !!!!!! LOL

Looking good Angel,

Just dont stand under it, it should hold, but I wouldnt let it swing there forever. pull it, pull the boat out, and lower the engine to the stand. We did a friends a similar way, he had steel trusses, but it really wasnt all that heavy. let me know when your ready to drop the new one in, and I will come down and help, ripping one out is one thing, but an extra person always helps for installation, alignment etc.

FYI - My 502 fully dressed weighed just under 1200 lbs, right around 1170 if i remember right.

EFI vs carb, fully dressed vs. stripped. Heck if he had to he could get it down to pretty much a short block before removal, when there is a will, there is a way, some are just a little more dangerous

Got chya...that explains why i came up with my #...we always lift it out fully dressed + tranny and its a 502 block !!!.....i think it also depends on aluminum or steel heads...thier fkn heavy !!!! lol

Exactly, I mentioned because I too thought these engines were lighter. I don't want to see anyone get hurt.

We pulled my friends 502 with a strap and a Skytrak. Now that's the way to do it!

There's a reason those outboards are so awesome ... 300xs only weighs 505lbs. and pumps out more than 300hp.

But damn that lumpety lump sound of dry exhaust and a cam is SWEET...

I hear ya, I love the lump, and told you the other day the details about the 383 in the old chevelle, heck you almost witnessed me trading my boat for same small block lump a few years back, but the outboards are a trip, 60 MPH in an old tank with 225 HP, and I can stand up and drink a beer while I wrench on it Cant wait to get the boat solid, so I can start modding the 250
