I think a 33 is too short to stagger.. I do like the side by side with Arneson's tight. That would be a real nice set up.

Jim, all 33 PP's race where staggered and ran fine with #4/5's and even Bravos , all on boxes ..so i thought Arneson conversion asd6 would be cool ?!

Explain why u think its to short though..i like to hear.

I don't doubt they ran well. I prefer not to need boxes and it is my opinion not to stagger anything less than 38.

ID:	80618My 1997 Powerplay was a full stagger race boat. HP500's and Bravos turning 3 blades in. Ran 84 in any conditions I put her in. Boat flew extremely level.

Im NO expert, But I had a 33' Powerplay with the full stagger with HP500's and it ran really well. Very well balanced and I could keep up with much larger boats in rough water in the pacific (as long as max speed was similar to mine). the boat loved rough water. I had a few frirnds with larger boats that were amazed how well it ran for a 33' boat compared to their larger boats.

I think it would work (and be badazz). Props are around same distance from transom as SSM #3/4 on boxes, and I would think ASD is lighter as well. I've honestly never heard of an app. where Arnesons don't work, and usually work noticeably better.

I guess it is a toss up staggered with the ASD6 or side by side with the 8's turned in. I would go with the 8's turned in.

PP all should turn in , even on asd 6 staggered !!!! and they are enough to hold 700+ as well ( easy ) !!!!!!!!!!

    boat should 100+ easy also..

he means asd8's angled in so the props are close to each other, while the engines are side by side. Not talking prop rotation.

Accuse my ignorance with this question. What advantage do arneson drives give?

Hold up the power , trouble free,,,set back with out the weight , tranny in the box, running SSM props and act like SSM , or better ( surface drives )
So in my opinion ,,,i will buy a staggered PP and stick some arneson on it,,then i can let u all know if it made a differents and i bet it will to the better....handling , eccelaration and top speed !!!!!!!

Gonna race it of coarse..maybe build a new one. don't know yet

surface drive, no lower dragging in water, no 90 degree gears eating horsepower (more power to the water), better props over bravos, lighter?, more reliable less moving parts.
