Relax Jay. We have the same hobbie. No reason to beat each other up if we disagree. Can I have some credit for getting her last name right?

For the record, I meant Michelle and I turned in my census form complete less my phone number.

Got this in an email today. I think even you will like it.

    COWS

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country.. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.

    THE CONSTITUTION

They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq ... Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we're not using it anymore.

    THE 10 COMMANDMENTS

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse or Congress is this --you cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal' 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery' and 'Thou Shall Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians .... it creates a hostile work environment.

Typical left wing rhetoric, even Obama ackowledges the Republican ideas that were incorporated into the Ins Reform Bill. Keep up the good work with that closed mind of yours...the fact is that we need to stop the deficit spending and balance the budget or we'll have a bankrupt country, you cannot spend your way to prosperity...it might work for a while but eventually the well will run dry. Giving away money that isn't yours to buy votes is sh!tty policy no matter how you slice it.

Not around here. Home value free fall. Double digit unemployment. You see, because of the unions the Dems had a 30 year head start phucking our region up. Dem only elections. Carty Finkbeiner. Kwame Kilpatrick. Three out of three county commissioners are Dems. It's been a Dem-fest for 50 years. The areas that are the most phucked are the ones that have had dem-fests.

You sound really pizzed. You must be having a rough time of it. Maybe you need something. Can I pay your electric bill or car insurance?
Pm me if I can help out.

How is the govt supposed to operate without revenue?

Right now, anything that puts people to work is a good thing, is it not? Are you sure of that number? Seems like a lot- one worker for every 500 people? (THAT sounds like gov't )

Truth in those jokes. Hard to argue with populist humor.

The fact that you think of that nutjob as veep mat'l is worrisome, Steve. I hope you are joking, but something tells me no.

And we do have one more thing in common- we both think that a certain member here is a sanctimonious pr!ck.

The revenue the government takes in is about 20% of the GDP REGARDLESS of the tax rate, you increase the GDP by lowering taxes which increases the GDP and INCREASES the governments revenues

Not working for the government it isn't, the only way to pay those people is to take money from the private sector, government produces nothing and only lives off the taxpayer

No, not necessarily. Moving dollars around is a pointless exercise. The only thing that counts is if someone creates value. Whether that's planting a seed and yielding five ears of corn or writing a computer program that makes someone's business more efficient. It has to be an action that results in more coming out than went in. Obviously, governments SHOULD provide necessary services. A policeman adds no direct economic value- however it could be argued that he prevents a loss of value. But a government make-work job does nothing but circulate dollars, with the inevitable loss of some or most of those dollars. These sorts of jobs have a temporary effect of stimulating the economy. But no value is generated. Or look at it this way- if every American borrowed $10,000 and spent it next month, the economy would boom. For a month. But then the bill comes due and those dollars have to come back out to repay the loans. If you factor in a certain loss of efficiency, you end up with more harm than good.

OK, so enough of the Rep/Dem battle. I really don't think that was Nick's original intent on the thread.
Tell me why you would, or would not support Patraeus. And let's stick with some facts boys, not party lines.
The majority of us come here because we love these freaking boats, we embrace educating ourselves, we like to goof off with friends, and we also love an open educated debate.
Walk away from the party lines, and let's discuss the man, and where he stands.
So, convince me that he would be good or bad, I'll listen to both sides.

I tell you what, the hatred, insults and kindergaten taunts have a way, at least for me, of turning me off to the comments of the posters and the threads in general. Somehow I feel i am not alone in thinking that the "Im right, phuck off" chest thumping mentallity makes the message, right, wrong or indifferent, fall on deaf ears.

I would vote for Petraeus if he re-instated the free market system, reduced taxes and ended government handouts for the non-productive. Of course, I understand who creates jobs in this country, and it ain't the government.

Well.... except for more government jobs.

Thanks Tim. You're precisely right. This thread is embarrassing. There are quite a few statements contained within here that I would ordinarily clean up immediately, but I was curious to see just how low we could go. I've not been disappointed; some vast depths have been reached.

Bingo. That's what really piqued my interests. He's not a politician, and would be a good candidate with a solid background, ideally-suited to shake things up and do some house-cleaning (pun intended).

That's very hard to believe. The number I'm hearing is 45,000 temporary hires.
