I am in the middle of buying new lower units, i have Bravo XR uppers right now with standard lower Bravo 1 lowers.
What i want to do is add beefier lower so i can spin a 5 or 6 blade prop. Since I’m going to be buying lowers anyway, id like to see if shorties aren’t the way for me to go, or if i just need to stick with standard length XR lowers
what i am wondering, is if i buy a -2" imco shortie for lowers, and it doesn’t work, buy putting a +2" spacer in the drive, will i be equivalent to having a standard XR lower??
Common sense tells me the answer is yes, but common sense leaves the stable the minute we buy these boats, and typically never looks back as we feel the urge to spend thousands for 1 extra MPH or 2... nothing seems logical when it comes to these thing!

If the shorties have the 1 1/4" dia. propshaft,
mechanically, it would basically be the same as an XR.
