    Lucas Oil Outerlimits SV43 Crowned
2008 Super V Unlimited World Champion

November 21, 2008 – Key West Florida - The revolutionary SV43 Outerlimits powered by Chief Engines and Whipple Superchargers was crowned as the 2008 Super V Unlimited World Champion. Drivers Joe Sgro, Nigel Hook and Mike Fiore drove the high powered V-hull to victory on Sunday to edge out the 47' Fountain dubbed "Cat Killer".

In the now familiar livery of Ferrari red and LUCAS OIL, the #77 team sent a message to the competition with this new advanced design of boat and reliable power package.

"This is the new weapon for our World Wide campaign next year in Powerboat P1, which will challenge races across three continents. Not only do we have one of the fastest V-hulls ever built, but we have one of the most powerful and durable power packages available. Tommy Hofstetter of Chief Engines, Dustin Whipple of Whipple Superchargers and Scott Conrad of Hering Propellers has really given us a World Championship winning package," said driver Joe Sgro.

"We proved this week that Outerlimits is not only the fastest and most stable V hull, but also that the quality of the rigging and craftsmanship of finish makes it the most reliable V boat. The boat was easy to handle and extremely predictable. The acceleration of the boat with the Chief/Whipple package was really unreal," said a jubilant Hook.

Over 50 race boats competed this year in the World Championships in Key West, where races have been held since 1966. Weather and sea conditions during the whole week were again mild as experienced for the past several years, giving race fans great side by side racing.

The #77 Lucas Oil Outerlimits competed in three races in just five days, taking a respectable second place on Wednesday, in the boats first race, followed by a third on Friday when a faulty starter caused a delayed start, then a first place finish on Sunday which totaled 927.5 points, just a 2.5 point margin of the 3100HP Sterling Powered 47' Fountain driven by James Sheppard and throttled by Craig Wilson.

Mike Fiore, President of Outerlimits stated "Our 43' Outerlimits in the Key West Poker Run owned by Bill Betz is an identical twin to the #77 Lucas Oil Outerlimits we won with today. Our customers get all the benefit of what we prove on the race course". The Key West Poker Run was an impressive collection of over 100 high performance boats that ran down from Biscayne Bay in Miami to Key West over the weekend.
