We'd love to get a Python group going here.

I just did a keyword search and came up with a bunch of guys talking about Python boats. Try shooting some of them a PM.

I was never an owner, but I was looking at one pretty hard a few years ago in Northern KY. Almost bought it, but the deal went screwy, and then it was gone.
I believe it is owned by one of the members here.
I have tons of pics of this one stored on my hard drive.
    I wound up in a 24' Pantera.

    Donman,
You just went through and re-did that boat? Am I correct?
I thought I remember seeing pics of it before it was all white, had a hockey stick paint job, or something else old-school.
    Boat looks great!
Very subtle, and nice accent with the blue swim platform.
    Looks good!

Yes, I just dropped a few G`s into my Python. I started the project last spring and was back on the water Father`s Day.
I painted it ALL white, including windshield. Swapped out the tinted windshield for clear glass. Replaced the black rub-rail with a new white rub-rail. I completely ripped out the interior and went with bright white vinyl with electric blue / lime green accents. We put a checkered stripe across the sunpad and had 3 headrests added. I did a helm make-over with white-faced gauges with blue anodized gauge bezels. I built custom bolster stands for the front seats - also replaced carpet with white Lonseal flooring. I removed the old cleats and replaced with pop-ups. Then I tackled the stereo ---- (2) 12" subs, a pair of Polk 6x9 and a pair of Polk 6.5". Added more amps ( about 2000 watts total ).
Did a few minor upgrades, like on-board charger and depth gauge.
Then of course I had a custom swim platform built. Had it powdercoated candy blue.

I guess it`s time to sell it now .....

Thats my boat. I've made a few changes to it but overall I love it. I use it 99% of the time on lake eire and it handles great in rough water. I just finished redoing the stereo system this week. The dash and all the gauges were replaced. The cabin is going to have padding made in the next couple weeks. I also changed the 454 engine that was in there to a 502.

I don`t know the whole story, but I do know they were built in Georgia. Not sure, but I believe from 1989 to about 2000. Most of the models I have seen are 24'. Not even sure if any other size was produced. ??

These are 24 x 7 hulls, like Pantera, etc .... I`ve been told that they are a Pantera copy from rub-rail down. ??

Most of these have big blocks. Mine has a 502.

Python`s seem to have a fairly respectable reputation. Build quality is good, but have heard there are a few boats with not-so-great workmanship. I know my boat seems well-constructed, and I am a former Sutphen owner, so I know good work.

They are excellent in rough water and are a fast hull.

Overall, I think they are great, but of course I`m biased.

    Yep, now I remember.
You and I have spoken about your boat before.
Glad you're having a good time with her.
Damn, I miss running on Erie. Grew up on that water.

I don`t have any pics on this computer, but I used 1.25 square tube, just basically 4 legs with some cross-bracing. I used 1.5 flat across the bottom to bolt them to floor. I retained the original low-back seats. I bolted the passenger seat directly to the bolster and retained the slide-adjuster for the drivers seat. I raised the seats 2" from original height.

    Had them powdercoated white.

Yeah, they were originally out of Georgia.
The builder died a few years ago.
I've gotten the impression that he was something of a partier from some of the conversations I've had.
As I understand it, there was also a ~35 footer. Don't know how many were built.
I know the old mold for this boat (~35) is now in Chicago area, and the boys up there recently pulled a hull from it. They are currently working on rigging.

Sadly, the guy that started the project (Straightjacket/Brian), and the thread starter was fatally injured in a work accident.
The boys up in Chi-town are keeping the project alive. Mike Sommers has been keeping us posted on the progress. Brian Sr. has been working on getting it together.
Not sure if they also have the 24 mold.
