A guy at work asked me if I had any info/hookups for lift kits for his 06 1500 Z71. He just got it and its damn clean. He wants it a few inches higher.
    Thx-

Used to be Trailmaster had a pretty good Chevy kit, but I haven't looked at IFS lifts since I had my '98 and that was some years ago. Rancho used to make a pretty decent 4 inch kit, I always like it because the front/rear drop brackets were welded together. As long as the trucks frame is straight shouldn't have a problem with it lining up.

When I lifted my '89 I designed/fabbed my own brackets and put a solid axle under the front end. There is a company that used to sell and IFS to SFA kit, but it was expensive and then you had to source the axle as well, I doubt your guy is looking to spend that much or have that much work.

He mentioned a body lift......i think i talked him out of that. A 4 inch minor susp lift should be nice. He cant get tires n wheels yet either, unless a good package comes up

If he just wants the look, a body lift is ok but I wouldn't go over 2 inches.

His money would probably be better spent on a larger diameter wheel and the tires to go along with it than a lift w/ wheels and tires. Larger wheels can give the illusion of a taller truck without the additional cost and wear and tear of a lift kit.

3" body lift does work well, is cheap and has added benefit of keeping the center of gravity lower than the same amount of suspension lift. You can run up to 35's witha little bumper and plastic triming

This is just one kit http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kits...163#ReadReview

runs about 400 if you shop around

Tell him to check with Mumbly's on Gratiot (I believe you're in the Det area right?). They'll recommend a BDS most likely, which is a good kit, lifetime warranty and made in MI if I recall. I have a Zone on my 2500 (which is the lower end BDS w/ out lifetime warranty) and it's good so far.

RCD is another reasonably priced option that is quality.

CST and Cognito are the top brands recommended usually but are pricey.

BDS makes a good kit. If he's looking to have it done somewhere, call Diversified Creations http://diversifiedcreations.com/ The owner used to or still does work for GM performance. They will just sell you the kit also. They're out here in Brighton.

I have done several cognito motorsports lifts on my gm 2500's and absolutely love them. Very high quality, very good folks to deal with. If he's on a budget, on an 06 you can just turn the keys all the way up, get shock extenders and have the front end aligned. Raise rear as needed with spacers. I have gotten 3 inches of lift with key adjustments, although it is pretty hard on the pittman arms and upper ball joints.

This is my son's Tahoe with 35x12.5's on it. No lift on the suspension or body. No clearance issues whatsoever.

Chris, are you sure about that, this is mine with a 3" body lift. Even then I had to trim the front bumper and behind the flair. I have all new suspension bushings so I know I was at stock height before the lift. Looks like your front bumper has been trimmed too.
