Not Right, that looks awesome! I want to do that to my engine compartment. How long did it take you to do? How envolved was it?

thanks, taking the carpet out was the worst part, the side with the trim pump was easier because of the oil spots, the other side was a *****, came up in 1/2" sections. you could probably go over the carpet and it would not make a difference, I glued and screwed it down in the corners. I had a metal shop put a 90 at the edge so there is not sharp edge. I bought the diamond plate online I think it was 1/8"

    other side

I wonder if theres a mild solvent you could spray on the carpet that would soften the glue? I've been looking at doing this the last couple years.

Perhaps it will come up fairly easy or easier after running the boat for a while and things are heated up, kind of a heat gun effect. Only problem with trying that method you'll get heated up as well.

Agreed! I bought some vinyl 2 years ago along with some purple battery trays and every time I think about doing it I see this two day project of carpet removal. I just hate carpet in the engine compartment. It does nothing but hold moister.

I would try and soak it with something, the more I think about it I think I remember that it was almost like they layed the carpet in wet resin, it was a major pain.

unfortunately the polished look didnt last long probably due to the salt air, still look 100% better than carpet but just dull aluminum now.
