    Deaths Door Vodka
    #1
Has anyone here heard of this stuff? We were out to eat a couple month ago at a local place and the bartender said it was the best stuff. I don't drink vodka but some friends do, he tried it this weekend and said it was the best he's had.
I don't think I could tell the difference between floor cleaner and good stuff and was thinking about christmas presents.

With a name like that, I cant see it being very top shelf. Where is it made?

Ultimately if your friend really likes it, then by all means buy it for him.

Pretty much there are two types of vodkas available on the market right now. You have grain vodkas and potato vodkas. Grain vodkas don't have much taste or charachter and are often used for mixed drinks. I very much prefer a potato vodka, especially a Polish potato vodka. Chopin is one of the more recognizable brands and is broadly available. But it's a "marketed" vodka, which means someone put a fancy name on it and is spending marketing $$ to promote it. My preferences would be Lancut Wodka or Luksusowa. These are somewhat anonymous plain-label vodkas but they're very good drinking. Lancut also has a premium vodka called Biala Dama which is absolutely fantastic. That would be my choice if I wanted a gift to impress a connoisseur.

Wyborowa (veebarova) is an excellent Polish rye vodka that breaks from the antiseptic mold of many grain vodkas. If you want eclectic but safe, this is a good choice.

I haven't had the vodka but the gin is very good. It is named after after the area on the lake or something to that effect, I don't believe they are going after the college crowd. Personally, I like Ciroc vodka for mixed drinks.

I remember getting a mailing on it a while back. A local guy wanted to get into the craft distilling of vodka (similar to the premium bourbon brands) It's named after Deaths Door, the water passage on the tip of Door County, WI

Kamchatka ! $10 a 1/2 gallon. Don't know what it's made of but it fuks up people within 4 boats of me! Mix it with rum and cranberry, splash a little OJ or redbull in it and watch out!!!

I was praying for death Sunday morning. I have not done that much porcelain praying in a long time.

I blame the Skyy, I keep telling myself it had been Grey Goose I would not have gotten sick.

Of course it couldn't have anything to do with the 40 or so Red Bull/Skyy's I had.
