West coast boat. Something I've been thinking about doing with the big interior in my 24 to make it a little more "social"...

28 AT and 28 Pantera are argueably the best riding boats in this size range. The AT will be about 2 MPH faster from my experience and the extra freeboard is real nice. Can't go wrong with with either though.

So this "social" aspect you're going for...
That just means more cooler space under the seats, right??

I really like my 28 Powerplay, great in the rough.

Not quite as deep as an AT I don't think though, but still not a "small boat".

No newer one's out there though, and not many at all actually. Just thought I'd throw it out there as when I was looking it was the 3rd Fl built boat that was comparable with Pantera/AT.

The 28’s were done in the Original 32 Cobra mold which started life as a 29 Cary so you are a foot off the baddest offshore Boat around in the Old Old days ,We never did build a Block-Off for the new Hull Mold which I did in 94 for the the 28 deck.

You're talking about the "taller" 33? I do wish mine had that 6 inches, but it's not bad at all.

    I've been told there's only 13-14 28's out there, it's a collectible.

There were very few built! it is a rare Boat,The place was busy building the new high side 33's and open fisherman were also selling very well.So the 25 and the 28 were put up in the mold shop with the old Cobra tooling, Danny started planning the 38 around this time.

What about a 28' Sunsation? Comparable speeds to others mentioned as well as good rough water handling.

The 28 Sunsation is a great boat, but does not handle the rough as well as a Pantera or A T.

    Or PP.

    It's also 28 with a swim platform, not a true 28.

Just my $.02, we've really been pleased with our 28ZX in the rough as well as sleeping aboard for a 4 night weekend (2 times). Lake Erie dished up some 4-5's on a run last year (5 1/2 mile strectch), but didn't care to get over 30 (stayed more around 23-26). In 2-3's she's a real comfortable ride. Twin small blocks though, but I have no desire to ever go back to a single big block again. Been spoiled with the twins! Good luck to you and your friends endeavor!
