    The US-19 bridge?

I think the bridge is named after Rockefeller. I'll ask my dad what road it is.

New river gorge bridge, US 19. Highest single span arch in the US.

I cut through West Virginia last summer driving home from Cedar Point (roller coaster park in Sandusky, Ohio) and have never seen so much road kill. Must have passed 20-30 dead deer in one day!

It is, but I think it is also named after the senator that got the funding for that bridge.

Dad said he never saw a deer once while growing up. They had deer season closed from sometime in the 1920's until sometime in the 1990's. The country boys killed them to eat. Dad said he had fresh meat once a year when they killed a hog, otherwise it was salted meat (no refridgeration).

My uncle lives there. I wonder who my dad will root for when FSU plays WVa. Bobby Bowden was the coach at WVa before FSU. That's why my dad is an FSU fan, as embarrasing as it is.

I'd rather see my sister in a ho house, than my brother at FSU.

Any idea how long since it's been used Tim?
    Was that a swing bridge?
It has a geared sprocket at the base of the center span, but the ends don't have any kind of skid plates for alignment, curved ends or look like the are separated for movement.
Height and design says no, but never under stood the sprocket.

Looking north northeast from I-80/90 westbound.
That bridge, I've always wondered about.
It's at approx. the same height as 80/90, and way to high for the need for a swing bridge in that shallow water (maybe 10-12 feet at best). And then of course 80/90 is fixed, and past 80/90 it quickly goes down to 8' and then 5 foot of water. If you're heading down to P-burg (used to head down there occasionally and walk up to the bars (CASA BARON, John?)), you have to kind of snake through some areas that may be as little as 3' of water, and that's about as far West as you'd ever attempt to travel on that section of the river.

My dads side is from Ky and Tn. I remember being back in the holler in Bell County, Ky and hearing the gigantic blasts from the boys working on the tunnel. Never forget that. Granny lives 5 mins past the tunnel off 25E. Been thru it MANY times
