he said shortly after he took office he made it a point to increase troops in afghanistan. which, correct me if this is wrong, but is the opposite of his campaign.

Off Topic: he still looks like a monkey, i dont mean that because he's black, but those big dam ears, its just like wtf...

I think he just solidified his non ability to get reallected. This will be another pointless 18 months over there and he has put deadlines on a war, which is a very risky thing to do.

Americans will not see any benefit to the extra 30 billion in spending, more casualties, and an economy still struggling.

God for bid another attack occurs here on our soil.

One thing I did like is to increase our homeland security. Money well spent. Bring the troops home and use those resources to stop attacks.

Bad speach. Stupid decision. If you're going to send anyone, send the Air Force. Get it done.

So all the taliban has to do is wait us out 18 months and then our return plane ticket has been purchased in advance. Sweet.

I don't like the idea of bailing out but I do not see the ability to stabilize Afganistan with their own forces...they never had any type of organized army or police force. Iraq had an "army" and look at the challenges there.

If we left and Al Queida re-established thier bases would it not be easier to pick'em off when they are concentrated in one spot?

That's exactly what a few of us were talking about this morning...how dumb is that? A time frame for a war?

Ya, you guys just wait it out another 18 months, and then you're free to go about your Taliban business again.

It makes about as much sense as our 48-hour warning before we invaded.

No country in history has ever taken Afganistan, and the Russians were much closer.

I haven’t seen anyone even really attempt to persuade me that this policy makes sense in cost-benefit terms. Nobody seems to really think there are national interests at stake that are critical enough to be worth paying slightly higher taxes for. But if a war’s not worth paying for, how can it be worth fighting?

Smartest thing al queda could do right now, is to go hide in caves for a year and a half, make afghanastan quiet and peacefull, let Obama pull the troops out, then walk out of the caves " Hi Mom, Im home!" Hell, if Sadam would have been smart enough to shut his freakin mouth for a couple years, he would still be running Iraq, the sanctions would have been lifted, and he would be kickin back in the palace watching his boys get blowjobs from Iranian hookers.. but They are just not that smart on the other side of the world..

cuda you are correct, the last person to conquer afghanistan was Alexander the Great. The last war the U.S. fought properly was WWII. our soldiers are more than capable but are not allowed to fight correctly because of the politicians worrying about their own asses getting re-elected by uninformed left leaning voters. God I miss Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher. Put them together with Golda Meyer in Israel and we would do some ass kickin.

The reason the soldiers were able to defeat Japan, and Germany, was the fact they were used as soldiers, not pawns in a politcal game of chess. The militay is trained to kill people and blow up stuff.
