This engine should be fine with the parts listed. Rod ratio will be about the same as a low deck 540 which is one of the more common builds out there. Can't tell what cam that is but if this engine is cammed to peak at 6000-6200 it should have no trouble making 800hp. You might want to take a couple of cams to try on the dyno. The valvetrain is the weak point in any BBC. Use shaft rockers and good lifters.
    Big boats rule!

I'm guessing 800 / 760. Have you run NGK -6's in similar race motors? Seem like they may be on the hot side to me. Here's a picture of my 10.9:1 600" BBC while we're on the subject. Pushes my 23' cat right along!

    I run NGK -9's.

    I run 7-8's right now ,with the 12:1 racefuel on a 509 CI .

I keep fouling them up in the milling area,,so i thought a little hoter isn't bad.
Specialy on the 9.7:1 on 93 octane !
U run racefuel mix in yours , right ?
If u tell me u run 93 in a 10.9:1 u will burn it up anyways soon ,,no matter what plugs u run !

I have 2 tanks in the boat so I run 92 for cruising and when its go time I flip a switch on the dash and run the other tank that has 100 octane unleaded. I keep the A/F's around 12.6 and have never had fouling issues with the -9's.

    Like i said ,,i also have a 100% locked distributer ,,on a 12:1 509 and the 9's fouled .......on racefuel 110 octane !!!

Maybe u got it going right with the 2 tanks then ?!

That is why i build this 93 octane engine ,,,less problems and same power or even more and at a better spot !!!!!

Hate to say it, but if you have adjust your idle and off-idle fuel mixture by running a hotter plug, you need to get someone else to do your tuning.

That wasn't his doing; he did accept PM's up until approximately 8pm.
He's had a temporary status modification. Sorry for the inconvenience.
