Fvckin' Termites. I hate 'em. They're a constant worry down here, but never have I seen a boat attacked like that.

In any event, it's cool piece of history, and I'm sure a great little rocket. Good luck with the resto and we look forward to the progress.

That was fall time last year.... In december I towed it up to Little Tommy's buddys place and stored it over the winter till the middle of March. While looking and looking, I placed an add on CL looking for a "Shop". Low and behold, sometime in march I landed a great shop that had a large overhead door, heat, AC, and a compressor for a good Deal, I was back in buisness!! Hears some pics in winter storage...

On ward to the shop...... I towed it there some time in March and slowly started to work in it only on the weekends.... Luckly, when I backed it in there was already a lift I could use to take the engine off. I was happy about that..

After a shopping spree at Harbor Frieght and Menards, it was time to start working.. But, I already ran into the perverbial fork in the road. I new the transom definately needed to be replaced. Throught the hole in the transom that the speedo hose went through, I was able to slide a 1' tie wrap all the way in.... :O To replace the transom I needed to either split the top deck from the hull or cut out the inner cockpit liner... As with glass work, form what I learned thus far, there is neither a correct way.... The poison I picked was to cut out the liner.... Here some pics I sent to Glass Dave & DareDevil to get there opinion................. The read line I photo shopped in was where I was going to cut.

After talking with the pros, I decided not to cut on the corner but decided in the middle of the "shelf". To decrease the amount of glass chipping, I used blue painters tape to cover up the glass..... Did it help, may bee. I decided to use a roto zip in the thin areas and a jig saw through the thicker areas. O yeah, I did get the engine off at this point also...

To cut out the liner, I had to deal with the outboard cut / wash well. That was the only part of the boat I didnt like! I never like the looks of them or the functinallity. I could only think of being broke down in some rough water and having waves crash in to close to the cockpit... I got ballsy and decided to cut it out...

While it look like it took a few simple cuts to get the liner out, that was not the case!! The liner was glassed in the the stingers on the bottom side. I first used a grinder with a tile saw blade to cut it... That worked good when it was able to fit... For the tighter spotts I used a dremel.... That took forever!! I finally got to a point were I could take it any longer.. From standing in the bilge where I cut the well out, I freeking yanked it loose.. I had enough!! Anger at its best. Never the less, I was able to break it free and get it out all by myself...

To Get the liner out I had to cut some of the knees that connected the top of the stringers to the transom wall. That is were I found some carnage on one side! Surprisingly the other side looked good. But, just like alot of things, you never know whats inside till you start cutting.

J-Bonz, out of curiosity do you mind letting me know what you paid? A PM is fine, no need to post it.

There's a scout at the marina that is in disarray, has a small block and an alpha ss... I'd love to pick it up and refab it!!!
