if thats the case..there are already several boats that could crack that already.

In their presentation that was posted they mentioned "propeller-driven" record of I believe 225 held by the Miss Budwieser unlimited hydro.
I'm not sure if that was a sanctioned record by "APBA" but isn't the "APBA" the only US organization that has "UIM" accreditation for speed records on water?Last edited by nortech4play; 11-16-2009 at 05:57 PM. Reason: added link then removed link---Jim had same one

That's a pretty good listing of the speeds...it's a dangerous undertaking....Besides the obvious possibilities of getting killed this one I thought was interesting...No "Hans" Device back in 1957

You can see how little contact the AMF boat had..
I don't see this thing going anywhere near as fast.. Its not so much how much power you have but, more how much drag you don't have.
Best of luck to who ever tries and GOD Bless.

11-16-2009 08:13 PMI watched the unveiling with interest on Saturday (and a full belly thanks to the Copeland folks!) and was struck by how big this thing is. The "wing" looked fixed and not movable. There were no turbines in the boat as far as I could see. Visual Imagination did the paint job and it was pretty cool up close.
People were whispering that it may be a stretched Doug Wright (but I do not know that to be a fact, just gossipp).
We shall see .....

11-16-2009 08:56 PMGood evening guys
I was in KW this weekend attending the races working with Gary Ballough. While there I sat and talked to Doug Wright. Doug did in fact design the boat and it's 53ft. The boat has been at Al's shop where his guys were doing some work which apparently Al was unhappy with so he had Doug Jr. fly in to finish the project. Once the initial design was done by Doug Sr. Al had design engineers from Boing come in to make changes. The Kinard wing between the sponsons is cockpit controlled and according to CFD software the boat is stable to 320mph.. My understanding is they are initially shooting for 240mph.

no i was refering to the Al Copland boat. I was looking at it after the unveiling and noticed some pretty wild departures from comventional wisdom along the bottom of the boat. Its very difficult to discribe the shape of the sponsons and tunnel. They have an odd wedge sort of shaped feature about twenty feet down from the tip and it looks likes a break or something. Hope someone can put up a pic and maybe you or someone can make heads or tails out of it. Its different from anything i ever thats for sure.
