I would guess your 41 mph GPS is faster than 41 mph speedo in a side by side race. My Johnson is a 60 hp. The boat is an 1989 Supersport, padded rear seat with padded seat backs on the rear bench seat, Bimini top, garage kept Whaler. I am truning about 5700/5800 with just me in the boat to get to 41 mph.
Great boats for kicking around in, I use it one week a year, in Cape May, NJ for our family vacation.
Funny we are talking about 41 mph Boston Whalers in this thread, but that is how fast I have driven a 15' Whaler. Now in the old days a 13' Whaler with a 50 Mercury was the sh*t as a kid.
Here is the Whaler (picture taken four years ago)..my late father driving with his grandchildren on a Cape May, NJ vacation.Last edited by Smarty; 09-21-2009 at 05:28 PM.

09-26-2009 02:43 AMAfter holding the boat in full boost for about 15 or 20 minutes we were about 500 yards from the entrance of the cheboygan river (close to where the USS Mackinaw ice cutter parks) and the hose going from my innercooler to the blower discharge tube blew off. There was a loud noise and boat slowed down so fast we just about hit the windshield,I instinctively yanked the throttle back, thought the motor had let loose until I realized it was idling. Oil pressure dropped to about 5 psi for about 30 seconds,I think it was probably over 300 degrees,I still had a stock cooler then. Anyways,we put the hose back on and tightened it down then idled up the river through the locks with 15 minutes to spare,Smitty

09-26-2009 02:46 AMAs far as that last mph,I got the fear put into me last year when boat bow steered/hooked violently at 95 mph and did everything but flip over. I used to want to go 100 plus but I have no desire anymore,Smitty

12-12-2009 03:09 PMYeah if I had a 13 when I was in the 7th grade I would have been a rockstar!
My Yamaha F60 is running 5600 +/- spinning a 3 blade prop but my Whaler is a standard with a side console (very simple design) and nothing as far as gear in the boat. For top speed runs it had 6 gallons of gas, bimini down and only me aboard. The chine walk comes in like clockwork above 40. Up to 40 it rides good but trimming it out you can feel the water slapping the hull!
