With both the SuperSport and Evolution Class titles up for grabs, this weekend’s Powerboat P1 World Championship racing will be full on, and fans in the U.S. and around the world will be able to follow the action on P1 Radio (www.p1radio.com).

Syracuse, Sicily, on the island’s South-Eastern coast will be the dramatic and breath-taking setting as #43 SEAGULL CHAUDRON battle for back-to-back SuperSport season championships with the #38 BAIA ATTOLINI and only 28 points separating the two teams. Meanwhile, 75 points stand between Evolution Class leader #47 SILVERLINE poised to take the title without ever having won a race yet this season, if they can hold off the #88 SNAV OSG, which was finding its stride in the last few races.

The Manufacturer’s Cup is also up for grabs in Sicily in both classes, but a U.S. engine builder will definitely take that portion of the competition. The SuperSport contenders are a 41-foot Chaudron powered by twin Ilmor performance Marine engines and an all-American classic Donzi 38 ZR with a pair of Mercury Racing 525s. Evolution Class racing pits an Italian-made Buzzi powered by Sterling Performance engines against another all-American combo of Outerlimits pushed by Mercury Racing power.

All of the back stories and personalities are available at www.powerboatp1.com, any time, and race action begins with the one-of-a-kind PowerPole competition starting at 7:30 a.m. Eastern on Friday, September 11. Racing will begin on Saturday and Sunday (September 12 & 13) at 9:00 a.m. Eastern.

Commentators Steve Ancsell of Great Britain and Martin Sanborn of the United States will provide play-by-play coverage as well as behind the scenes insights and interviews throughout the day, and pods casts of all three events will be available later the day of broadcast.
