My intent is to use Petit Easypoxy. (white) It is a marine use one-part epoxy paint. I have used it before with great luck, even below the waterline. This would be my first time using it in a bilge. I would like to keep it white.

That is Julian. He has a 28 brave with a similar paint scheme. The colors are actually a little different. I think that he has the one that is kind of green and purple, for lack of a better description, and mine is teal and kind of a maroon or mauve red. Also... I think that he has more of the cloud pattern and I have these crazy triangles.

Great seeing the progress! At least you have all the parts to assemble the short blocks and when the heads/cam come in you can get it together quickly!

Did you fix the cut-out in the port side engine stringer? It looks like someone cut it for clearance. It's very easy to fix but if you haven't done it already but I'd make sure to do it now! All corners should be rounded/scarved over, then the top capped.

If you need anything let me know.

Thanks. I was not going to try to fill the space back in, but I was going to cap the exposed wood. My intent was to round the corners over and then spread some West System on it and then sand the West System and paint over it. I am assuming that I will still need the cutout. (alternator maybe?)There is a small cutout on the SB side also, but smaller, rounder and more professional looking.

I was thinking alternator as well. When you cover it with west system, be sure to cap it with 1708 fabric. Here's a few pictures to give an idea.

On the hatch, notice how the previous owner just cut the support stringers to clearance the blowers without rounding over or radiusing the edges.

Not trying to make more work for ya, just don't want to see you having a stringer failure in rough water cause someone else hacked it up.

The stringer was also cut at 90* angles to clearance the oil pan and the owner slopped some gelcoat on top, obviously it just fell of later on. I wound up cutting out the old wood, scarving the edges, adding new wood and capping it off with 4 layers of 1708.

I understand. I appreciate your input. I don't think that I would have stringer failure, but I will like it better knowing that I made it a better situation. I also don't want water intrusion into the stringer. It will be capped.

We went last year without a boat and wished we had one. I almost rented a runabout. Couldn't bring myself to be that tourist guy.
But it is so beautiful all around there. One of the reasons I stayed in the 28 range was trailering. But I spent my truck money on better power, so I am waiting to buy more truck until the boat is done. My 1500 won't do it safely. My buddy drags it around for me when I need him to. But I need to get into a 4x4 F250 or CK2500 or bigger when the boat is done.
