Bigger tabs are going to make it even more sensitive. My Avanti 22 is very sensitive to both drive and tabs. I never have felt the tabs push the stern sideways but then again I rarely run them much...

No. The difference was about 1/4". Mine is an '88, it is built well. I got lucky, some were not built so well; print-through, wavy bottoms, etc.

Yeah, mine had more hook on one side than the other. I ground both sides and re-gelled; the bottom was approx. 1 1/2" thick so I could get away with this fix.
