Our nation is poorer for the loss of this warrior. But free because of the lot of them.
The Medal of Honor was invented for guys like SFC Smith.

Attachment 85344 My Uncle has a big write up in the local paper. I only listen to him tell his story once. He lost most of his platoon in a fight. He told his story to a Petoskey classroom. His wife is giving him a hug.
My Father assembled Bell helicopters in the Korean War. He first went to airplane school, then sent him to Texas for the helicopters. They would ship them in, and assemble them in Korea. He flew a lot of helicopters, but never went anywhere. He had to run them and test them. Said he just lifted them up checked them and sent them on their way. Never stuck with aircraft, he went back to cars when he came back. It would be cool to be a helicopter dealer! Lol
