Spring Classic Regatta boat races this weekend

The sights and sounds of powerboat racing will fill the Colorado River near Parker this weekend for the Spring Classic Regatta and Sean Naffziger Memorial Race. The races will be held March 26-27, with racing starting at 9 a.m., on both days.

The Southern California Speedboat Club (S.C.S.C.) is proud to present Sprint Boat racing at the beautiful Blue Water Resort & Casino. Join the S.C.S.C. and The BlueWater Resort & Casino in putting on this prestigious American Power Boat Association sanctioned event along the Colorado River. Race fans will be treated to an exciting two-day event watching thrilling Sprint Boat Racing featuring some of the fastest boats in the nation.

The races are presented by Nick Rose Insurance and Hotboat.com, Amsoil Twins, Rex Marine, Bingham Rentals, Hewitt Custom Boats and Huntington Beach Propane & Sea-Tow.

This year’s schedule will feature Round 2 of the Grand National Racing Series with the big bad “Blown” Grand National Endurance Boats led by defending National Champion Heath Hiebert of Bellflower, Calif., in No. 369.

The second stop on the Western Formula Light Series will feature a tough field of competitors from across the Western United States led by No. 93, R.J. West of Skelton Racing, Manteca, Calif.

A new crowd favorite, the six-liter displacement boats from Australia, will make their APBA debut as a sanctioned class and start their APBA points chase. Sportsman Entry (SE) and GPS95 flatbottoms will duke it out as the racers in each of these classes will be racing towards their high point championship.

The Comp Jets are always a crowd favorite with plenty of tight, deck to deck racing action. Classic Outboard Runabouts will be on hand to race their modified V-bottom outboard boats. Last, but certainly not least, the best Stock Outboard Racers from across the Western part of the country return to the Blue Water Resort & Casino to get set to compete.

Top racers from all over the country will test their driving talents against other drivers and the waters of the Colorado River. There will be great racing action as all racers will be competing for their chance at victory.

Come and enjoy this annual spectacle of boat racing at the prestigious Blue Water Resort & Casino. Admission is free, and spectator parking is in the BlueWater’s parking lot area above the beach. No spectator vehicles will be allowed in the pits. So, grab some sunscreen and treat the family to this annual event on the river.
