NHRA's Larry Dixon survives chilling crash in Florida

Three-time NHRA champion Larry Dixon is lucky to be alive after his car broke apart at nearly 260 mph and went airborne Saturday at the Gatornationals in Gainesville, Fla.

Dixon's Top Fuel dragster bowed in the middle and broke during a third-round qualifying run at Auto-Plus Raceway.

Dixon, 48, emerged from the wreckage and waved to the crowd. He was treated by the track's health officials and released.
