Been thinking about adding air bags to the rear of my 04 Superduty SRW. Which is the better kit? Firestone or air lift? I would like the on board compressor kit to adjust easily. Thanks

We sell and install the Firestone are bag system. Works great!
Both are made by Firestone anyhow. I'd go with the Firestone branded ones.
I put some on my 3500 chevy SRW and they are great for towing the Cig.
Always good luck on the Firestone's
Do these systems go inside the coils or are they mounted elsewhere?
Above the axle under the frame. The majority of applications are leaf springs (truck rears
Do they help with sway or anything? My truck doesnt squat much, even with the 40' Formula on the hitch, as the trailer is balanced pretty well.
I was looking at the on board control. I have a air compressor from a set of gaffrig mufflers. Was wondering if I could rig that up, with a air gauge, and toggle switch to the firestone kit? I dont see why it wouldnt work?
Joe,
I have a firestone system on mine! Helps keep the trailer level and to raise it up when using some of the steeper grade ramps
Firestone and AirRide are about it.
The kit compressor isn't that expensive. It has a double-throw switch/valve that you'll need. One way is an electrical switch to run the pump. The other is a release valve to dump the air. You don't need a gauge. I put my pump in the back compartment and the switch right there. Then I got a piece of PVC pipe and cut it to the length between my bumper and the ground with the vehicle unloaded. After loading, I hit the switch and ran the pump until the stick fit under again. Back to level ride-height.
They do help with sway as well as that rocking-horse effect you can get with a large trailer load.
I used Firestone Air bags on an Excursion I had a while back to pull a Cafe and a Tiger and it was a well worth addition.
Buddy of mine went with AirRide on his F250. Has the automatic leveling option. Works great.
