What individual has influenced the industry and sport of offshore powerboating more than any other?
Is it Reggie? Aronow? Kiehaefer? Maybe.
There have been so many who have passed through the world of offshore and more than a few have made their marks. And sometimes they left a few dents. Most of us in some form have had this debate with our friends. And most likely you have a few personal favorites, and maybe even someone you admire to the point of them being a sort of hero to you. We at Serious thought it time to at least get them all in the same room together, so we built that room. Now it’s up to you to invite your own picks to attend.
The Top 25 is an attempt to recognize the most important in our sport and to provide a place for their stories to be told. This isn’t going to be a page just covered with pictures. This will be a place where their stories can be told. And as new material surfaces, it will be added to that person’s story.
The key word is influenced. While we hope they will all be positive influences, we all know there have been a few that left their mark in less than desirable ways. That’s OK. Those stories are worth telling to.
While these influencers will most likely be boat builders and racers, the Top 25 isn’t limited to just those people. And they don’t have to be retired or deceased. There are certainly some people still going at it and even a few who are relatively young that have already achieved things that have moved the sport. When we discussed building this, more than a couple unlikely names popped up. But we’re not going to tell you who they were. We want to see who you think belongs. So keep an open mind. Tell us who you think belongs and why. And if you have a story behind that person, tell it.
We’re even entertaining the thought of putting these people in order. It may be impossible to do. But we would like to get them all in one room at the same time and see what they came up with!
