I feel that those of us with weird boats need a place to go and feel at home. the boats that no one has ever heard of, (like mine) we could call it the" who in the hell made this?" boat section, or "this must not be any good cuz they are out of business "section. all of my bretheren with one off boats need to step up to the plate. or some smart azzes with with dream crushing levity.:D

I think you will find that a lot of us own non performance boats in addition to the fast flashy big ole C-gar boats. Why not keep it simple and something to the tune of non performace boat discussion.

MOBILEMERCMAN

Performance is relative. Some boats think the are and others really are. I don't want to name any or belittle any, but some are and some are not.

A play may be more fitting.

Seems to me there will be a continuous request to keep adding. If that is OK so be it. I think make a list and have a overflow group of what ever name works for everybody.

I had a very similar conversation with another member here that was about just this.
We had both owned previous boats that looked like performance boats, or "offshore" boats, but that's just it they only "looked" like a performance boat. When you tried to use them as one, they fell apart.
I agree, I don't want to belittle anyone, or any boat. They are all great for what they can do - they all get you out on the water. The fact that you have a love for performance boating is enough for me. Even if it's just a look. My blood line however, well, it runs a little deeper.

I just mentioned it because non performance my not get much action, but a fun name like whatzit or float box might get more takers? I don't know for sure. Just guessing. Some may call mine performance, but to me its just a floater.

This is freaking deja vu man. :D :D

But we have both been out in lots of kinds of boats. My first was a bleach bottle raft in a swollen ditch in west toledo after a rainstorm. I was hooked. Then came a muddy river and a wicked lake. Fast forward some boats and I now think I have an actual performance boat, just now. But what I was running before was amazing compared to the cruisers I grew up on. I was posting today that we didn't do poker runs, we did predicted log.
I love all boats bring em. Bring a skiff. Big ole Cow. Bring yo dinghies! Bring yo bad toon.
(To that section, and thank you for posting on SOS,)

I wasn't specifically saying performance or non performance, I was thinking you could not have a forum for each manuf.( 600 at last count) but a miscellaneous boat owners forum for the weird , like mine "universal marine" and the one offs ( custom sounds so much better than homemade)

Just an opinion. You would almost have to call it "What is it?" for newbs to have a handle on the premise.

ok...I see where we are going with this..how many boats make a class and how many classes do we need???? with so many splashes out there, we could have boat company A with a sub forum of derivatives.. or we could narrow it down to three, pontoon boats, VEE's and beaks with swimplatforms.. but I think the first idea would go over better..

Maybe "whatzit" would work with a subtitle that was more explanatory.
