I have an idea.

A coffee table book from the perspective of the Apache owner with a page for each boat (some owners may pass of course.) Ask Bobby's permission to use his quote thanking owners for all they do to keep the heritage alive.

I would love to sit and read and see a nice pic, learn what has been done... history of boat... hailing port. Perhaps hailing port history (Miami, Grand Haven, Cleveland...) and then when we sell... the book goes with and enhances the value. Small Apache history up front. Great fireplace conversation with non-boating friends who just don't quite get it when you say Apache. :)

We could probably find and include anybody who wants to be included and fit the page count for a nice book. If we have too many... we do half pages for the Scouts. :D

That's pretty funny!!

When I was searching for 36's Bobby would send me pictures and contact information for each owner along with the history. He'd also tell me a bit about the personalities of all the owners, it was really cool!:sifone:

The boat I own now he told me who it was built for, the power and the previous owners names along with some additional history. And if you notice below, it's straight up honest info, no BS!! :driving:

Hi Frank

I believe the boat you are looking at belongs to Joe from Boston, Nice Guy.

Joe bought the boat about three – four years ago. As far as I know he kept the boat in nice shape. As you know the engines have too much horsepower for the Bravos. But if you are getting the boat at the right $$ and detuning the engines, it should be a nice boat for you.. Good Luck and let me know if I can be of any help,

Bob Saccenti"

That is a cool idea fund (I'll take 2 ). I would like to get some more history on mine. I am the second owner and purchased it from the dealer that sold it originally so I got a lot of info from him about when they took it to Lake X and that sort of thing. It would also be cool to have an Apache Regatta at some point for everyone to decend on one body of water for a fun weekend together.

Ours doesn't have the ponies under the hatch like Franks or those staggered 36's but we love her just the same and hope to some day give her a full restoration.

3500 to transport the boat ????????

when i pulled my boatup to NJ last year (and i have a gashoog) i paid 1400 bucks there and back ( TOTAL ) .

So u cant count that in ,because in NJ u can't run to BIMINI and back !!:sifone:

Hotels,,,,,,70-100 bucks a night. 3 X = 300 . food = 300 for 5 days = 600 for hotel and food.
Gas 200 gallons X 2.60 ?? = 500 bucks = 1100 .
So ,,,1100 + 1400 + 2000 = 4500 !!! LIVING LARGE ,not on a budget !!

But i do get your point !!

I wasn't trying to hijack this post I just think it would be cool to plan something a year or 2 out (we have 3 year old so we have to plan ahead) during the summer months to get together. Definately wouldn't have to be a race event or even florida for that matter. More like find a place that the most people interested could get to and make a long weekend of it. My pockets aren't deep like many members (I would have repowered already if they were) but just an informal get together. I'm not looking to trailer 1500 miles but 6-800 miles could be done. People that don't want to trailer could possibly just hop in with someone that has room in their boat etc. Didn't Rhc do something like this in Sandusky a few years ago?

OK, back to the history lesson

From what I was told the first 3 are pretty close, maybe diff layup schedules, as was said earlier all of the original 3 have exhaust over the gunwale. in the youtube video you see the blue warpath and the banner boat, it seems the banner boat runs a little more on top, might have just been the way Bobby had it trimmed, because they did spin it that clip.

Both the warpath boats are in Fla, the banner boat is in NJ.

This is correct. I road on the banner boat now called warpaint about 1.5 years ago. There are a couple special items on the banner boat such as the small circular holes on the hatches, instead of the usual larger openings. This was done due to the rough water that the boat would have to deal with in Key West. Tom Evans said that they even went so far as to create small mesh screens for the holes, but today those are not on the boat. I believe all three had Keith Eickert power and were raced with Evans, Kramer, and Saccenti as the navigator, driver, and throttle man. The banner boat was later sold to Kurt of Kurt's Marine and was raced as the Apache Bandit. It would be nice if we can make a list of all the races these three race boats competed in. Also, I still would love to know why the exhaust was moved?

In reference to the trip/spin, from the other site;

WHAT TABS?????

We had none!!! We discovered a electrical problem on the Team Apache Boat at the start of the race. That’s why we started 15 minutes late. We had a lot of time and water to make up… Every time I touch the trim tabs or the drives. The engines would lose power. Too much voltage needed to run all the trim motors with shorted batteries. So I set all the trims to a “happy medium general type setting” and told the crew to hold on baby!!! We are going for it..

Surprisingly we finished only of few seconds behind the first boat in spite of the spin and wound up in second place UIM world Champions 1985

Ahhh the good old days

I think Sean addressed that, it was the transom angle. the exhaust on all 3 of these is still above the gunwale. there is a banner boat replica(not Lorne's) that has exhaust under it.

Sean wrote about why the transom angle was changed, but not why the exhaust was moved.
Because the 17 degree angle broke the trim rams on the #3's more than the 11 degree current transom

Thats what i thought,,,exhaust has nothing to do with the angle of the transom since the hull stayed the same hight?!

Maybe reversion problems and they had to angle the exhaust more ???? Bob S. would know.

That's all you Adam. I wonder how many places in the country you can find 2 41 Apaches with a couple hundred feet of each other at the dock. You guys might even get respect from the E-Dock guys!!!

The only thing , what i told Andy ( VIPERFITNESS ) to do on his......is to stick some #5's or 4's on there with 2 inch spacers,,,,,,the 3's are way to deep in the water with the twin 1000 HP engines.

But hey,,,running strong,,,very strong. Good boat and everything is rebuild or new.

In NJ within a few miles of Atlantic City you will see Island Racer, Island Runner, Firewater (47), SC RedHot, and Warpaint (former Team Apache Banner Boat)! But still not within a few hundred feet :) Was this really Ben's Dad's boat? I for some reason thought he had one of the 33'?

BTW... we are working on a plan to capture and list the hull histories. Please stay tuned. It will be a discussion thread, (no hijacks, yes discussion) that will act as a gathering place for the info... and then we will clean the list up to make a straight list.

Nobody needs to start any websites or anything. Although I would like a copy of the hypothetical coffee table book. I would even buy a coffee table. :)

I was initially wondering how many Apaches were made/still out there. But a registry would be very cool. Sounds like there may be something in the works!

No book. :)

We are working this listing or "registry" out as we speak. It is too good of an idea not to do it right, so it will take a little time to get the appropriate folks on board. Mr. Saccenti and Mr. Stinson immediately come to mind.

We will start a new thread when we are ready, and then that thread will become the basis for the list. We will talk things out on the thread, and that will help us develop the list.

Hell I´m not even that fond of Apaches but older Cig racers and LS Scarabs... and considering where I´m from and know these HIN´s and sofort.. guess I live all wrong ;)
Well At least I got an International U.I.M Racing license with the immersion test included so I can hop aboard any raceboat if needed....
