OPA is $750 Equipment fee and $150 per OPA member. That covers all the fees for the whole year. Take 3rd in your first race and you are making money the rest of the year.

OSS is about $2,250.00 to register a boat for the year. $300.00 for each riding crew. $1,500.00 entry fee per race. (All boats in the SPEC classes pay the same fees)

SBI is about $1,500 to register a boat for the year. $350.00 for each riding crew. $1,075.00 entry fee per race. (These are the fees for SuperBoat Stock Class, fee vary per each class)

SBI is much cheaper if you are racing a P class boat.

For Bracket Class Racing OSS has no yearly equipment fee. It is $250.00 per race to enter. Each riding crew member is $300.00

For Manufactures Production Class racing SBI is $600.00 per year fee. It is $675.00 per race to enter. It is $350.00 per riding crew member.

The fees seem pretty close for each org....why don't the bulk of the teams get together and support one organization...The one with the best city's and offer the best ROI for sponsors.

If all the boat only enter one series the other cannot survive. It seems the teams have the ability to end this once and for all...If they all pick the same series and only race that series. Once there is only one series the teams can form a union to push back on the series for concessions...

Not sure if its that easy and I am an outsider looking in...but just a thought!

Scott....you're right...it just not that easy......each series has it pros & cons. Most racers weigh those out and decide were they want to run. Some racers just go out and race.

What would your return be if you finish in the top 3??

Ratickle

I believe you have to have 5 boats in your class to receive a payout, but not positive.

What would your return be if you finish in the top 3??

OPA: No Boat minimum.. Only 3 boats show up and you get at least 3rd place $$$
1st 2000.00
2nd 1200.00
3rd 800.00
I'll say "was" the purse seeing as I have yet to crack the top 3 this year... :ack2: But the formula is pretty simple and straight foward.

SBI: (NOT MY WORDS, THIS IS A COPY PASTE JOB FROM THE RULE BOOK)
Pay out will be based on the number of boats starting the race in their class. Five
(5) boats starting in a class will receive the prize money as posted for that class,
less than five boats will be as follows:
1. Four (4) boats in a class will receive prize money from 2nd to 5th place
2. Three (3) boats in a class will receive prize money from 3rd to 5th place.
3. Two (2) boats in a class will receive prize money from 4th to 5th place.
4. One (1) boat in a class will receive prize money for 5th place.
Any class with the exception of Manufacturer Production Class (P1 – P5),
that has eight (8) or more boats starting (crossing the start line) will receive
an extra $1,000.00 (40%, 25%, 20%, 10%, 5%) added to the prize purse for that class

So you pay 675.00 To race 1 other boat and you get $100.00.. right?

This is what I have heard so correct me if I'm wrong, but in SBI you don't get paid in cash, it is "rolled over" to your next entry fee.

P (SBI)class payout is $1000 1st
$600 2nd
$400 3rd

Only 3 boat minimum but as above in the proseries classes if only 2 show then 1st gets 600 and 2nd gets 400 and if you are the only boat in class you would recieve 400 for the win

So if You race OPA and finish 3rd at every race it would look like this.

Total Event Fee's........ $1000.00
3rd Place purse x 8 = ...$6400.00
Net profit...................+$5400.00

So if You race SBI and finish 3rd at every race it would look like this, assuming
you have the boat count to support the purse.
Total Event Fee's........ $6700.00
3rd Place purse x 8 = ...$3200.00
Net profit...................<-3500.00> Negative
