I was at an APBA kneel-down hydro race at a nearby lake today, and it was really great to see so many young kids getting into racing and seeing a lot of familes getting involved. TRORA (Three Rivers) put this event on for the second year in a row and the local communities are really enjoying it.

I think Chris mentioned this type of racing in another thread, and asked if there was a way to eventually "convert" some of these kids to offshore racing.

Then I came across this UK series - called "Formula Future" - and it seemed to be even more appropriate for getting new blood into offshore racing. There are four classes, and the senior division has 18-20' boats with 150hp outboards. Take a look.

It would be interesting to know what people think about this program, the approach and the practicality of it all. Does something like this make sense?

That looks like a great program! Where was that when I was 10?

Yep, kneebangers were a blast as a kid. I can't imagine trying to run one now...... Probably never walk again...

That European program, 8 race series, looks slick...

It is truly amazing what can happen in other countries without the herd of carnivorous lawyers we have here.
