Thanks for putting up the link. One of you down there will have to ask Scotty if that's his fastest ever. I think it may be. Thought he said just under 190 in a race once when I was talking to him.

Scotty has been over 200MPH- just not in race trim IIRC

In Biloxi last year they were running 192 in the straights and theres a video floatin around of them doing well over 200 in the Mystic... I think like 211...maybe 209 ... not real sure now

I announced two records at the awards. I recall hearing Geico at 185 and Hard Rock at 122.

A Kilo is set by taking an average of two passes in opposite directions in a determined amount of time.

I remembr that post, they said they shut down, not because they had maxed it, but because they ran out of lake...... figure if t-53's are about 1850 hp, and the t-55's are 4000, if you double the hp in a faster hull.. it has to be more than 15 mph faster..

He may have won for the day but, he wasn't awarded a record at the awards.

SBI hasn't posted results yet. News on site set did say Hard Rock 120.698

I believe Geico got the record because they set a Turbine Class record. Not because they were the fastest of the day, that would have been CMS, but apparantly the Piston class record is higher that 186.:driving:

From SBI website

Key West, Fl - 7/3/2009

The Panasonic Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix official Kilo event kicked off with record setting performances by the Seminole Hard Rock Super Vee Unlimited and turbine powered Miss Geico.
The 44’ catamaran Miss Geico made two official passes for the day, establishing a new world record in the Turbine class of 184.002 mph. This record is the first record to be set in the history of this class and means a lot to veteran throttleman Scott Begovich.

“We thought we were going to break 190 mph today, but we were still really happy with 184 mph. The boat was running great, and Sarasota is awesome. I’m just glad the kilos are back and that we set a world record. There’s a bunch of other guys out there now that are going to be aiming at our record next year. But we will, too. We’ll be shooting for a speed over 200 mph.”

The record setting performance for Seminole Hard Rock Team could have come at a high price, says boat owner and throttleman, Peter Meyer. “We might have hurt the engine by dropping a valve or breaking a spring. If we find out that we did damage to the engine, we have a spare and we’ll change it out. I’m sure we’ll be ready for testing tomorrow. I’m really happy now. The conditions were tough because there was a cross wind out there today and a 1-foot chop which made it more difficult. This is one-and-done. We set the record at 120.698 mph and now it’s up to someone else next year to try to break it.”

Today’s conditions, while ideal for south Florida standards, were slightly humid and warmer than drivers would prefer when attempting to establish new records. The cooler air temperature and flat-water conditions often enhance a team’s chance to establish new records. Kilo records are set by taking the average speed of two passes in both directions on a one-kilometer officially sanctioned racecourse. Records can be broken only after one year and if the team is able to improve the previous record by at least one mile per hour.

Superboat Unlimited Team CMS made a solid attempt and edged out all other boats with the fastest speed of the day at 187.797 mph, but did not beat the standing record of 198.5 mph set by Bacardi Silver. Team Amsoil attempted a kilo record today and came up short with a top speed of 121.344 mph.

For a complete list of race results, visit http://www.superboat.com/. The next race on the 2009 schedule is the Panasonic 25th Annual Suncoast Offshore Super Boat Grand Prix Festival on July 5th, 2009 in Sarasota, Fla.

Race fans unable to attend the event can also watch the Panasonic 25th Annual Suncoast Super Boat Grand Prix Festival on CBS Sports. This race and upcoming races will appear on the Saturday afternoon “CBS Sports Spectacular” line-up this fall.

I agree. Fastest that day doesn't really mean anything if a record was not set.

Here is SBI records it appears the archives were last up dated KW '07.
