So shrink wrapped my boat over the weekend. Get a call at 5 am from my driver that he's hooked up and on his way to Miami (from ohio). Hour later get a call "Houston we have a problem" Well on my brand new trailer one of the brackets that holds the breaking system on the back right wheel was loose and broke off getting lodged in the tires rim causing it to lock up. So now one hour into trip we already have one failure and delayed 3 hours. However... On the road again...
Will keep everyone posted on the next crazy thing to occur.

Looks like fun! I can't wait to get back on the road. Since I sunk my small fortune in the mfg business I have been hi perf boatless. I'll have our new 41 next year and we'll be all over the map!

Well............ Just got the "Houston we have a problem" Again...

They heard squealing then decided to go to the nearest ford dealer. Lucky the mechanics are willing to work late to fix the truck. I guess they burnt up the turbo.

Really? that sucks... I have not seen too many powerstrokes burning up a turbo, make sure they check oil flow to it!

From what I've researched it's one of the most common problems with the engine. At this point the old turbo is out and they are finishing up putting it all back together. They found a huge ford dealership and the mechanic was litterally driving off the lot for home. My buddy pleaded his case and pulled out some benjamins.
They are pissed and just going to tow through the night or untill the next problem...

Should of known it was going to be quite the day...
Saturday we had our "team dinner" and one of the guys on the trip got overly drunk, pissed on the floor in my condo, and ended up nearly naked.

What a start to the adventure...

I know one reason they burn up, alot of guys run them and shut it off right away, I run mine for about 1-2 minutes before shutting off, that allows fresh cooler oil to the turbo, if you shut them off after they are hot especially towing the oil in the turbo will "cook" that is the main reason for turbo failure.
I have a 99F250 with 276,000 on it with the factory turbo still... hope it keeps going!

Full Force has it right. You want to leave that engine running. The best thing to do is when you pull off for fuel just leave it running. If you are pulling off for food then fill up with the engine running then pull over and shut it down and go to get the food. Good to see that there are still some guys willing to help out even if it did cost you a few extra bucks.

Also if you have a programmer in it make sure they are set to Tow instead of Power, you will burn that thing up towing on Power mode.

Sweet! now do the chip, exhaust, and get a good converter in the trans and you will be amazed how well it would tow!

The work I did to my trans made such a difference in towing ability..
