Yeah, so I need to pay my bills. She's gotta go. Open to interesting trades + cash of 24' Pantera or other offshore boat around that size to conform to my shrinking budget.

Good luck on the sale Chris.

Here's mine. I want to step up to a 28. My girl wants a Porto poti. Oh and yeah ... She wants some Green Eyes too. Now susposedly, If she gets Green Eyes, I get something ON DEMAND any time I want it.

Hahaha. That's funny.

That's probably older than I wanted and I did want to stay with a pantera... Here's what i'm looking at: Selling my boat for $20k and giving Love Machine $12k for his boat.

So, I'll have eight g left over and I'll get the boat I want... Your deal would probably have to be sweeter bc I wanna stay with a Pantera. PM me with an offer and we'll see if we can put something together.

Thanks Jo, love the boat but my finances dictate I go to a 24 Pantera. :ack2:

I'm looking forward to staying in the family though... Got caught in some 8-10's last summer on Lake Michigan and she handled like a champ... Guys in 38 Top Guns were turning around and we went right on through 14 miles of the ruff stuff from East Chicago, IN to Chicago. :USA:

Good luck on the sale Chris.

The o/b boat has twins... And heck there's still a possibility that the 28 will end up rigged with a pair of smallblocks after all... Stranger things have happend.

Good luck Chris! Hope it works out for you.

I Don't want to lead you on, because I can't commit to anything for a couple weeks, but take a look at my 24 on page 3 of the owners gallery on the Pantera sight. 1980 330 TRS. Mechancally real good. Black with eyes! Any interest in a swap? I'm only 3 hours away (2 by Pantera)! My wife wants another foot of beam!

Shawn, that boat is sharp as hell man. If I still have it, I would be interested in a trade plus $$$ deal on yours. It's looking like it'll be gone this weekend as I have a bunch of pretty serious buyers on the line.

Damn, That is a hell of a deal. If I didn't have my boat still not finished and too much money tied up in a motor I would be all over it. What about a trade for a 24' baja and you keep both of your motors. :D

As many of you know, I checked my oil a few weeks ago after our first time out of the year and it was milky on the port side.

Here's an update:

Talked to my father and a couple of friends about how I should run the boat yesterday on the fresh oil...

We determined that, since everyone I talk to that's interested in the boat is treating the port motor as worst case scenario and suggesting it 'may need a motor' or a complete rebuild, (which I understand) it made no difference whatsoever if I ran it on the clean oil yesterday to see if the milky oil came back. My rationale was that with potential buyers treating it as if the port motor doesn't even exist, what difference does it make if further damage is done?

This may seem nuts to some of you, but the price is what matters to me, and if I hurt it worse it's not like the price is going anywhere.

SO:

Ran it pretty hard in 3-4 foot rollers from diversey harbor to the playpen and back, saw about 68 or so in repeated jaunts to WOT (was paying attention to keeping her flying level than the speedo to be really honest.)

And, whattya know? Checked the oil afterwards and it still looked new. No milky oil whatsoever. I made my friend take a video of me checking the oil at the marina once the boat was on the trailer, and it clearly shows that the oil looks good. I'm not playing any games and I'm not going to jack the price back up, but she appears to be more or less turn key (although I'd still get it looked at if I were to buy it.) If it doesn't sell this week, and it looks like it will, I'll be on it on the fourth. For sure. I wonder if what happened was that I had some water enter the engine through the exhaust at some point that first day out?

And FWIW, the boat looked great getting pulled to the lake yesterday... It was almost as much fun driving through Lincoln Park in Chicago and getting all the thumbs up and chicks waving at us and whatever as it was floating around on it with 5 girls on it yesterday. :D

If anybody wants the video of me checking the oil, send me a PM.

Ran great this weekend... No water in the oil in the last 3 outings.

Here are some pics... Speedo shot is from saturday. Port tach is on the blink. Saw 1-2 mph faster than this yesterday in 1 fters.

Haha no kidding.... That guy's pretty serious. Great guy to deal with too. No bull$hit.

I asked what his plans were for the boat, and he said he was going to keep the power as-is, that he just wanted a nice wave crusher for the chain.

I was skeptical. :USA:

Yeah, probably not a good idea for you.

That would be like Kirstie Allie walking into Pizza Hut at lunch time buffet at 11:00 am when they brought out the first pies.
Vallerie B might walk that road as well.

Have a deal to buy this checkmate enforcer 240 this weekend pending a sea trial... It sat for a while and the carb is all gummed up, so he's getting it cleaned today so we can water test and close the deal hopefully sunday. I wanna be on the water this weekend! :drool5:

Is the Checkmate a 24 degree deadrise?? For some reason I don't think it is.

I always liked checkmates when I was a kid, but it's probably because they were built in my backyard, and there were a lot of them around.

Certainly not the same thing as a Pantera.
