I want to install a 496 in place of a 454. This is a 90 27ft. stingray with a bravo 1 out drive. The guy at the dealer tells me I have to install a bravo1X transom assembly. Is he right? I wanted to install a better drive anyway like a XR, XZ or 1x. Will any of this bolt up correctly? Thanks for any help.

Get a hold of "Dave M" on either board. He did this on this 24' Superboat and knows the whole process.

The 496 engines are longer than the 454/502's when dressed, so make sure you have enough room. Also the B1 X is now the standard issue drive & has been for a while when buying a 496 Mag Ho.. That said if you are not an abusive driver you can run a std B1 on it.. Hope this helps.. ;) Jamie / Lakeside Restorations

BTW, Rush we are just a few hrs north of you incase we can be of service.. :)
