This is sorta OT.....It's on my hot rod not my boat.

Small block chevy, Brodix heads and intake. Temp gauge is Autometer mechanical.
Question is, can I use the one of the holes in the back of the intake near the distributor? Brodix intakes have 1/2" pipe threaded holes in all four corners of the intake. The front of course are in the passage for the thermostat outlet which would be the perfered spot because that is where the coolant is leaving the engine. The rear holes don't go anywhere, they are just above the head coolant passages. I've seen some racers put connectors from the rear to the front to... (what I was told) to "control heat in the back of the head". I would like to use one of the the back holes because it would keep the temp probe "wire thingy" back out of the way from teh fuel and nitrous system. The gromment in the firewall is right there behind the right rear of the motor.

Anyway, whould I get an acurate temp reading is I put the probe back there?

Here is a pic of what I'm talking about.

Front would be the ideal. Cant you just run the wire on the manifold in a nice loom?

I would think you would always read high in the back.
