OSS Cares and Shriners Hospitals for Children Join Forces in 2009

OSS Cares is proud to announce their partnership with Shriners Hospitals for Children, to give those families going through difficult times a chance to become part of the biggest, fastest and most caring sport on the planet. The Offshore Super Series (OSS) is the premiere powerboat racing organization in the country but has also taken pride in their family atmosphere. With that pride, OSS Cares was born. "The choice for the Shriners was an easy one based upon the fact that all kids love big bright, fast things and our race boats proved to be a great example of that" says Maisy Page, the founder and director of OSS Cares. "The boats that compete in the OSS racing series are the top of the line and with that come top of the line people who love to get involved with the community." OSS Cares will be bringing in several families with children who are patients at various Shriners Hospitals for Children across the United States. This started at the first race in Biloxi, MS and continues throughout the season. Once at the race site the families will get a behind the scenes tour of the race boats and the support trucks that go with them. They won't just see the boats from the outside but also the inside as they get a chance to climb in the cockpit for a personal tour. All of this will take place while getting to meet and become part of the team. "It's a great feeling to be part of a team, a winning team, and having those families involved makes the feeling that much greater" says Mike Stancombe of Peppers/Lucas Oil Racing. For the rest of the weekend the families will be V.I.P Guests of OSS getting to watch the race and attend the awards with their favorite teams. Ms. Page States "The thing I look forward to most is the smiles on the faces of the children and the families; that means the world to us." History of OSS Cares

In 2008 Maisy Page decided that it was time to give back to the race sites that give us so much. While sitting in an airport she came up with OSS Cares, and with the help of the racers, promoters and of course the fans, the future looks bright. In its first year the group worked with the Al Copeland Foundation, Project Smile of Gulf Shores, AL. High School, and The Cody Unser First Step Foundation. OSS Cares represents the humanitarian hearts of the Offshore Super Series Family and a way of demonstrating our commitment to serving the communities that we visit. We support a wide variety of causes that reflect the core values of the entire OSS Family and will use the passion that we have for our sport to make a difference in the lives of people who need it most.
