That #1 Jaguar is my boat. Those series of pics with the Skater 30' flat deck were shot at The Big Cat Poker run three years ago. Bad memories but we have attended the run for the last two years and all the boats involved are repaired. Is that Jaguar yours!? You and your passengers are lucky to be alive! I don't see the pics posted here but the prop walk/gouges up the back of the boat and across the passenger seat gave me chills! I assume the passenger was a c*nt hair away from being decapitated.

Total of 4 or 5 boats involved. I saw some pics from a helicopter (that will never be published) of the events unfolding and you can see the arneson let loose and slapping around the back of the skater causing the skater to slam into the Nor-Tech,prior to the skater rolling and starting the "pile up".

The pictures of the Nor-Tech that got some damage aren't posted either.

Tank, I have heard that footage of The Big Cat accident exist and I would really like to see it. I realize that accidents are not good for the sport that we love, but I would hope to get a copy someday. Yes, we were very luck. My buddy who sat in the port back seat dove to the floor to save himself. Not my favorite day on the water. Doug

Yeah as Ryan said its a 40' Motion Cat / Jay Mueller(sp?) and it is already repaired and running again as far as I heard. Not sure what caused the damage Tank, maybe Jay or someone who knows can speak to that.

I watched a guy try to knock down a dock in Huntington Harbour this weekend. Full throttle reverse into a piling with the transom. The boat was an old Mag fishing boat (around 30 feet). So all it did to the boat was take the swim platform and livewell off the back. The dock looked pretty sore though!

That was at hardy dam (hot boat weekend, stanwood, mi) The boat was dragged one away from me in the cove. We were to the right of it. The swirl marks from the prop across the back seat and pad were insane. Not to mention the blood splatter.

Two young guys in a 18-21 checkmate hit them (at night of course).

MidnightRider should remember that one, maybe not he was :cheers2:

Twin (IE Chicken) - That photo was from Hardy Dam 2002. A 21 Check with an IO used that Crownline for a ski ramp. Amazing no one was killed. I was parked a boat or two down from it. Remember "I was part of the on going investigation into the crash, and no one was to come near the boat because it was evidence" This while drinking a beer and knawing on a Tenderloin Filet out of my bare hand. :D

Sure do! Happened right in front of us.

There was a helmet floating in the water, and everyone thought the guy in the Shadow had been decapitated.

Driver of ZeroDefect (Leif Pharon) caught a plane back to Saudi Arabia that night, fearing prosecution for manslaughter.

As it turned out, no one was killed.

VERY scary to witness!!!!!:(:(

Apologies - Off Thread

Yes is 41 Apache, always located in South of France. Originally was Apache SAM, pictures on Chief Engines website, built by an Italian. Was renamed Twistana several years later when bought by a Frenchman, who painted her white with Indian Head down side. Was resold in bout 2002 and named Hammerhead (paintjob in pics). Sold to different Frenchman couple of years later; story is that on the first day he took her to the beach and left her there, the sea got up and she sank. :banghead:

Don't know where she is now.

The boat was repaired but I think Peter still has it. I heard all kinds of speculation over what caused the drive failure so I don't know what actually broke. It was off when the 2 boats came together and slapped down the side of Dr Evil. That's why you don't see clean slices from the prop down the side, it looks more like random chopping.

Lofty, Dale's Skater has been repaired and was at the Pittsburg festival, looks great. There were 7 boats involved to some degree or another and all are repaired. Thanks for the copter pics of the accident. I have been trying to get the video shot from the air of the Skater flying over my boat. I thought it would be fun viewing this winter. Any connections to any other pics or video would be appreciated. I have lots of pics of my damage, but would like to see video of the events leading up to the wreck. Its going on this winter for sure. It was nice to find that the lexan was crafted at Textar so it is most likely mil spec. They produce the F-16 stuff and the like. I like the way Ricks boat looks now, nice colors to.

Watched this unfold from the water. Was backing down steep boat ramp at Lake Travis in Austin, TX. They got jacks and tried to put the boat back on the trailer but ramp was to steep. They ended up pushing the boat all the way down the ram, bottom grinding away on the ramp, floated the boat, put back on trailer and then went back home.

Yes, I believe Shane was driving. I'll see him out on the trails this season. The owner/throttleman, Nicky Cutro is still my mechanic. All three of our boats are at his shops right now in Lake George. I went to see the boat right after it came back from Key West after stuffing. It was a definitely a sad day because we knew it would never run competitively again.

Nope there weren't any lanyards...it was a week before the Shootout in 07... There were four people in the boat who were ejected when it hit a big cruiser wake.... boat travelled about a half a mile at around 70mph until it hit the shore and went through the docks...other than the former occupants no one on shore were injured...

I had friends at Cumberland for that PR in 2007. I think what they heard was they were both running off their GPS's at night and that area is normally under water, but since the lake was down some 60 feet, it wasn't.

Donzi was running towards CB on lake cumberland about 10pm ran up on Ramsey point what we now call "donzi point" at prob about 45mph, saw the shore right before it happened and braced and rode it out, driver was ok, just a bit shakin up. the baja ran up a couple hours after the donzi not sure about the story on it, heard he might have been going off gps. Took us a few hours Sunday morn to get the donzi off raised each side and put logs underneath then would pull it down about 5 ft at a time until we got it in the water, started up and got it back to CB no leaks, or drive probs, scuffed up the bottom a bit, both boats and drivers were very lucky that weekend. Happened again 2-3 times this last summer n the same spot, have to be careful on cumberland driving at night, cant go off the tree line with the low lake levels ecspecially in that spot

I don't think the guy they are interviewing in the video is the owner. HE's the driver.

And I don't think the cost of the damage is going to acutually be that bad.

2 hering props 5-10k each (the outer drives didn't have props on).

Repair two skegs for #6, 2,500 or so (the outer drives were shaved down from the factory).

reapir fiberglass at chine of the sponsons, 2,500 give or take.

So you're into the repairs for around 30k give or take. Probably wont even put it on the insurance.

our season ended early this year . steering failure and hit the steel wall at AC. good thing the locals fishing off the wall have a catch and release program!

Damn man, sorry to see that. Going to be able to repair with relative ease?:(

No , she could not be fixed, deck twisted , cracks all the way back to the helm, even impact issues in the engine room.
she was a strong boat, built well, the boat did its job and took the hit.
now we are starting to look for the next ride

maybe 20mph when we hit, we were coming off plane, while I was making the rt turn going into AC, the the boat snapped to the lf. I got the bow down and threw it into reverse just before we hit. the wall was not going to move!

Is it a cafe? Kinda looks like it from the bow. Is the insurance going to cover it?

it was a lipship 95 topgun, all new graphics from Dave Hunter, new power in 2007
we spent 4 years re doing the boat and in one second it was gone. the repairs went way past the insured value of the boat plus a huge safety issue with the location and extent of the damage. We all walked away and the boat can be replaced.

It was a sudden and freak thunder storm with really high winds. Caught people by surprise.

This was in Havasu a couple years ago. Story I heard is it was the guys birthday and they craned it in from the lot next door as a suprise for him. Disconnected the pump so when the drunks fired it up (which they did, I heard)...No go.

That definately reminds me of the old Eliminator adds

I heard through a surveyor friend of mine it was some sort of electrical short... If I remember, some punk kids had just stolen all the stereo equipment and the wires got crossed. That was a nice 50' that came from LOTO.

I was just kidding around, I feel sorry for the owner. Of course in today's market the owner would do better with a total then selling it.
