Wow, wheres that?

We had a wild ride home from Kelleys Island this morning. Got a little wet! We stuffed the bow just idling out of the docks at the Casino!

Hey - someone stole all your water!

How often does that happen?

How are you supposed to tie your boat up? Keep the lines tight to stay away from the docks or leave a few feet of slack so your boat can sit on the bottom of the marina when the tide goes out :ack2: Some of those lines look banjo string tight to me.

Maybe just tie them really tight and your boat will hover over that muck :26:

Its usually not a problem like dealing with the tide in Florida. A few years ago late in the season I tied one of the Bajas up tight at the gas dock overnight tight, and one of the marina guys said he almost had to cut the lines because the water had dropped so much.

Happens every year around this time on West Erie.
And those wave height you've got...
I had to travel from Toledo to Port Clinton in 12's one year to put the boat away for winter. Nasty water this time of year.

area is Toledo, far west end of erie, this end of the lake i shallow, the bay here averages about 6 feet, gt a little further out is avgs 12-15 then averages 25 ' or so on this half of the lake. a strong sw wind can drop this end of the lake 6' in a day. it's hell on props around here too.. if it blows good for a couple days the water can actually go out a couple miles. happens in the early spring and the fall. Checked the bertram (all th way out at the deepest part of the marina) after work and the sten lines were tight, busted one loose and the boat dropped over 6 inches.

That is amazing and thanks for the pictures.

On our last trip up I was told how the wind could blow the water to Canada and then a day or two later it would come back but that puts it all in perspective.

Water dumps into the Niagara River and Niagara Falls then into Lake Ontario. Thats my guess anyway.

It just looks rough because your boat is so nice. Kind of like a Supermodel sleeping on a rollout couch.:sifone:

Do you store it inside in the Winter? Beauty!

Funny thing is the lift is the only thing in boating to never fail me. (Knock on wood). Made me think to cover the metal uprights with white PVC tubes. What do you think??????? I keep it indoor heated storage in the winter months.

Serious seas in Erie when the wind blows. I witnessed waves crashing over the sea walls in Buffalo. They Black flagged the race. Said to have been 19' plus to break over sea wall.
