Hey guys - looking at putting a tonneau cover on my truck. I'm leaning toward a soft, roll-up style, but wanted to see if there was anything I had not considered. My brother has one from Access and seems to like it. Is installation as easy as they say?

Any ideas or suggestions as to where to purchase would be great. Thanks. :sifone:

Installation is easy on the ones I have put on. I am sure it depends on the brand. Since you are in STL, if you got to Buff truck accessories they install whatever they sell for free and their prices are usually pretty good. Make sure you get one with plenty of the bow supports or they will hold water and sag.

I have one of these http://www.extang.com/docs/fulltilt.html and LOVE it. Rolls up, hinged like a hard cover, or quickly removes completely

Hands down best one on the market. I absolutely love mine.

It installs in about 90 seconds, and removes in less than that. Latch it up and carry it off like big suitcase.

I've got a hard cover on mine and love it!! It's called a "undercover". Has two locks on it and I can take it off and put it back on by myself. It is easier with mama helping, but takes just a minute or two either way. Check them out.

Been installing them since their inception. Great customer service and great product. I know when I sell one that I am taken care of if the customer has problems.

I've had one on my last two trucks. The one on my current truck is 6 years old and going strong.

If you want a hard cover the Under Cover that Craig mentioned is an awesome product too. Those guys will go to bat for you with any issue you have.

I had the slide track one. I forget the brand now. I could dig it up. It retracted like a roll up door. Easy open and close. Lockable.

Here it is. http://www.truckstuffusa.com/rollnlockretractabletonneaucoverbyrollnlock.html

I would think someone here on SOS can get you one.

I had one of the roll up covers too. Up here where we get cold weather and ice, I wouldn't have another. The damn thing was froze up half the winter and I couldn't use it. Other than that they are nice.

Hands down the best money can buy, installs in a minute, remove it in a minute no velcro no snaps, lock down in the rear. I have several friends that seen mine and bought the same one and love it.

Here's a picture of the UnderCover. Some rednecks with $$$ in my area have them painted to match their truck. :sifone::26::sifone::26::rofl:

I need parts for mine but can't get an answer or returned phone call from the number I found on the web. I thought they may have been another company to go down the tank

I'm with Buck on this one for sure. Great cover , easy to install. Easy to adjust tension for summer / winter. Easy to roll up , the bows stay in the cover so you don't have to worry about losing them. The new vanish model is very low profile !! Their customer service is great too as buck stated. :26:

I have the same one, and wouldn't have anything else. I have had a fiberglass tilt up cover that really restircted the ability to haul anything that was taller than the top of the bed. The AGI can be opened to any amount you need, and can be partially rolled and driven at highway speeds for a couple miles. Love it.

I have to agree on the EX Tang. I've got the same one I've been using since I bought my '01 2500 in '01 then put it on my '04 when I traded and still using it today. Their quality is the best!! The only complaint I have is that mine is a "press fit" and it's hard to roll up with one person.

Also, FWIW...

The Trifecta also clips open right behind the cab, across the front of the bed. Once clipped you can drive with the bed open at highway speeds.

Trifecta all the way, no snaps! no roll up! no strech! no velcro! fold and go!

http://www.undercoverinfo.com/I had an Undercover on my '04 2500 HD Dmax Crew Cab and liked it. A lot of guys around here are running the Retrax cover. I like the looks of the Extang Trifecta. That is probably the route I would go next time.

I used to have a toneau masters. Body shop had to take it off for some paint work, they said they couldn't get parts for it any more so I got a new Extang. better cover. Soft flip up also rolls quickly when needed and no frame across the bed opening when rolled. Also removes completely fairly quickly

Another plug for the Undercover, which I have now. Easy to remove and replace when needed and opens enough to get items that slide to the front of the bed.

If you want to stay with the soft-type covers, I vote for Extang. Had one on each of my previous two trucks before switching to the Undercover.

thanks, I have a feeling I am going to have to do the same thing. I called today and still didn't get an answer. The extangs do look like better covers anyway

I have a hard Leer cover. Got it to match the truck. Very secure , lockable and weather tight. Only disadvantage is large objects. I've done large items with the cover bungie corded down. Overall I like it.

Trifecta all the way... Just bought one a few months ago and love it.
Fastest way to open and close cover. Looks clean, and no rails, snaps, or velcro to deal with. My only concern when I was choosing which one to buy,was that this 3 fold type of cover did not completely fold out of the way (last third next to cab remains) but since getting it, it's never been an issue. The ease of use far outweighs that concern. And if you know you are going to need the entire bed for objects requiring vertical heights, you can easily remove cover in advance, (only two hand clamps to loosen), and its off. Reinstallation is just as easy. In my opinion, it looks cleaner than the velcro/ rail design, as it tends to stand a tad above the bed rails, versus flat across, making it look a bit beefier.(my opinion)

My friend has this one, and after using it I would highly recomend it.

We can take it off and on as easily when its zero degrees out as we can if it was 90 out. When other people can't touch their cover because it will never go back on in cold weather, we are rolling and un rolling.

The other companies might have similar styles. The supports roll up with the cover, and when it rolls out,you put the ends in two slots at the back, and it springs into place. No snaps to deal with.
