I dont think you can but, can you get a 47' with triple 1075's?

that would be one fast mofo!

They have built triple 6 boats so there is no reason that 1075's couldn't be done. Personally I think a twin 1075 boat would be a better choice and probably not that much slower than a trip boat. In most trip applications you only get about 10 mph from the third motor, probably wouldn't get another 20 mph from a 1075.

I agree, just wondering.

Really? I'd think it would be more than that

I know 47 had trips, just wondered how big of motors.

When you run a trip boat the center engine can't really hook up. The center throttle will always be about 1/3 the throw of the other 2 and the rpms will be the same. On the 47 you can see the center motor just throwing water into the air until the boat nears top speed. Then you have to throw more throttle at it, the tail lays down, and you run up the last 7-10 mph. My buddy's 47 with trip 670's and Bravo XRs ran right at 100 mph but still needed a little tweeking. The best set up for that boat is twin 1000 hp or so engines and 6's. With that you could run over 100 with AC, genset, head, etc. and your 8 closest friends :)

twin 1200's would probably be almost as fast, if not faster.

I am not looking to order anything. The residential know-it-all at my marina sais he knows a guy that has one. I am saying bulls**t. But I do not know for sure. I agree twin 1200's would be great.

Thanks Ted.

I've only been on a few trip boats and they all run a larger prop on the center drive.

1200's add in the issue of needing race fuel (if talking Merc and if talking new Fountain since that's all the use) which would make them more hassle than it's worth to most people. I love to see it none the less!

Is it the same issue with Arnesons?

Ted

The 48 with Arnesons is not like that, but the speeds are way lower. That boat needs trips because the diesels have smaller horsepower.

I saw a 1996 42 for sale in PRA mag a year or so ago that had turbines in it that made 1050 hp each....I think the guy said it would run 105 all day long

how hard would it be to convert it to a 6 boat?

It'd probably end up being a complete rerig as the motors have to be moved to fit in the transmissions. The transom will also need to be redone for 6's.

just rig up a bunch of standard bravos on the swim paltform like sharks teeth, when one blows, push a button... the bad one falls off and a new one drops in its place...

Where is the Marilyn Monroe boat? It had tripple merc 800's. From what I remember, it would barely run 100.

I own a triple 47 lightning with SC 800's. I think I might want to try a larger prop in the center and see what happens.
