How do I set the subscription setting

On OSO whenever I posted on a thread, it automatically subscribed. I can't find that setting on this site. What or where is it?

Go to your user CP. Click on "Edit Options". The fourth box down deals with subscriptions, set to your preference.

I tried that. That tells me instant email notification. It still does not subscribe me to the threads.
