Houston, TX (March 21, 2013) - The fifth annual South West International Boat Show, presented by GEICO, opens today at the South Shore Harbour Marina, League City. The show will continue through Sunday, March 24, 2013 and is expected to attract 20,000 attendees over the course of the show weekend. The Marina is located on Clear Lake, home to one of the largest concentrations of recreational boats and marinas in the nation.

As the Southwest’s premier Power and Sail Show and the largest in-water Boat Show in Texas, the South West International Boat Show is the only boat show in Texas endorsed by the national sailing association, Sail America. The show will feature over 400 boats, both in and out of the water. The show will also host a comprehensive schedule of free hourly seminars.

The Miss GEICO powerboat racing team, which has won six world championships, will be a featured attraction at the 2013 South West International Boat Show. The team’s display will include the second-generation Miss GEICO powerboat, the Miss GEICO MTI catamaran. This vessel is 44 feet long and weighs 10,500 pounds. Its TM 1850 twin turbines generate 3,900 total horsepower and boast a top recorded speed of 194 mph.
In addition to the Miss GEICO display, the South West International Boat Show will also offer:

-A variety of more than 400 boats in and out of the water ranging from 15 to 80 feet

-Free hourly seminars led by industry experts

-Free rides on a 36-foot Yamaha Yellowfin and/or Discover Sailing sailboat

-”Learn to Be a Diver” pool

Admission to the South West International Boat Show is $13 for adults, $5 for ages 6-14 and FREE for kids 5 and under. A $2 off coupon is available online

Not sure. Last Scotty said they were going exclusively with the new Mercs......


Anyone going to the show to find out for sure? Mobilemercman?????
