A major stop on the Florida CRA Winter Vintage Circuit !!!

The Classic Raceboat Association (CRA) is a Tavares, Florida based organization that was formed to organize, promote and run both fun-runs and vintage regattas on our Florida CRA Winter Vintage Circuit. These are vintage and classic race boats from the early 1900’s to the 1980’s. It is also interesting to note that many CRA members do not own vintage race boats but join for the social activities, especially all the fun at our regattas and our Monthly CRA Fun Run & Gathering - all boat types are welcomed.
On March 2nd, the first Saturday of the month, our local CRA group will be launching our vintage and classic race boats at the Gilbert Ramp in Mount Dora for our next Monthly CRA Fun Run & Gathering. This will be a full day on the flat water of the beautiful Harris Chain of Lakes, including a grand lunch social. Even without a boat, please join us at Al's Landing in Tavares for lunch & lots of banter!!
Launching ceremonies begin at 9 AM at the Gilbert Park Ramp in Mount Dora and then we leave at 10 AM to cruise all over the beautiful Harris Chain of Lakes, including the newly cleared/dredged Dora Canal with fellow snowbird Dick Daly leading the pack. We will only stop for gas and then return to Al's Landing in Tavares for lunch and our social gathering.
After lunch we will head out again to enjoy the warm Florida sun and the flat water. After a full day on the water, we will return to the Mount Dora by mid afternoon. After pulling our boats safely back onto trailers, there will still be plenty of time for a refreshing shower before the evening festivities begin.
In the evening we will gather again for dinner at Casa Mia's Italian Restaurant in downtown Tavares for an evening for good food and drink along with good friends and tall stories. They promise to put us in the side room, so we can make lots of noise with all our vintage banter. This will also be a planning meeting for our Tavares CRA Spring Thunder Regatta.
What fun, another great day on the water with good friends and beautiful vintage and classic race boats, followed by an evening of food, grog and good friends with happy wind burned faces.
All boat types are welcomed to join us - pontoon boats gotta keep up with the pack !!!
9 am - boat launching at Gilbert Park, Mount Dora
10 am - head out by boat for our morning fun run
1 pm - social gathering & lunch in Tavares at Al's Landing
2 pm - head out by boat for our afternoon fun run
4 pm - pull boats back onto trailers at Gilbert Park, Mount Dora
6 pm - social gathering & dinner in Tavares at Casa Mia's
