I shot that pic of the M-8 around 1979 here on Lake St Clair. The Maltese in the pic was Dave Fader's M-8 ALTERATIONS, unfortunately later that year the hull broke up.

And few more from back in the day. Sadly these were two of the Magnums lost of about 8 Mag's total, & the pink 28' Bertram KILLER in the 1974 Emerald City Harbor fire.

I guess the Maltese are getting rare. Most of these pic's are from years gone bye. Hopefully there are more still out there. The Maltese has always been my favorite boat, and I am glad I have one.

About 3 years ago there was a black one / white deck in Southern Michigan that was a basket case, but I was considering it. After seeing all the pictures, and planning on buying it right up until the day I was supposed to go see it I backed out. Before even going to see it I finally came to the realization this would be more of a project than I could ever take on, and I cancelled the 10 hr round trip to look at it.

I remember that one and it was ruff, dont know if it ever sold. If you can do all the glass & mechanical work thats great, if not be ready to spend $$$$$$$$. Better to find one that is already done.

Each engine has its own switch. Each engine can run on either battery or both.

All hardware is being re-chromed and engine is basically done.Roger Munn is waiting for me to get back to Florida and we will put in on a dyno to fine tune it and see what HP it is putting out.If all goes well it will be painted this fall and be back up for final rigging next spring. All based on available funds.

Also just brought the Magnum up with the Teak steps,.We will get final dimensions and let you know the cost gefor we produce a pair for you. Bud

Dirty Pearl

I have seen a couple of Starfires with big blocks with small blowers running in the mid 80's. I built some small blocks that I am hopeing to get into the same #'s. I also raised my X deminsion and went to #2's.

Next you'll say one matching wheel.......

It really looks sweet.....

Any story behind the name???

Donskihp

Naw, I just hate to see rocks thrown up on any boat side. I put mud flaps on my truck to try to stop the tires from throwing rocks

Donskihp

If you see me at the races you will know me right away from my long hair. Plus when you do something crazy, people say you got a wild hair. Thought it was a fun name for the boat. I do need fenders for the trailer. Right now the boat is right across the street from the ramp. I would like to take her to the old school reunion in St. Clair next year. So fenders are on the top of my list.

Bud Weisner
10-01-2011, 09:06 PM
You still need a pair on top air intakes to push air down to the engines, and then the pair you have hooked up to a set of blowers to pull bad air out of the bottom of the bilge.

Also I will be printing the Magnum side decals is silver, just for you,and have the Magnum racing team decals in stock.Have finally ordered the vary rare ID dash plates.I will publish photos of them as soon as the are available.
