Looking for a carry on ac unit, had a used one someone offered me. Anything to look for, pretty good units? Any deals on new ones besides West Marine? Do not want to add permanent one in boat.

I had one in a cruiser...then later another one in a 31 Formula. PITA on the Formula. Ended up buying a $100 window unit and a piece of 5in thick foam. Put the window unit on the cockpit floor in the cabin door and use the foam to fill the void above it....worked great.

Like I said, I had the cruiseair unit first and switched.....until I installed a permanent one. One the express cruiser the AC would fit up through the hatch. On a performacne boat you've got to handle that thing over the dash...PITA!!! We would leave the AC in the cockpit floor, put the cockpit cover on 1/2 way, and my wife and I could slip into the cabin through a hatch or step over the AC unit in the doorway.
