Question... TRS's are already deep, doesn't adding a notch in the transom make them even deeper????

those 330trs would never hold up to the kind of power a KV needs to run with todays boats anyways. Id seal up that transom and replace with beefy drives with shorty lowers at a higher x dimension

Yup, like some ssm iv or v drives on boxes and Some 750hp mills. Problem with a boat likethat, by the time you buy drives, tranny, build motors, and rig the boat, you'll have 75-100k in a old wellcraft that runs maybe 80 with the power. And then, once you run it hard at 80+ in big water, the difference between the Larry smith 38 and wellcraft version will begin to show.

I guess its all relative,,
depends which relative left you the money!
:D

If I was part of the Rich and Shameless (in your best Robin Leach accent)
Id get me an MV KV and throw in a pair of the new Merc 1300s with #8s
Yeah it may only do 90-100 but it would do it in style!
:)

I am still curious about the added notch...
good idea or bad?
with the TRS's good/bad??
Bravos???
SSMs??
others?
would that ever pay off?

I have Bravo's on mine with 500 EFI's .....78 MPH all day long, and in ROUGH water, plus she picks up chicks and makes me look good.

IF...and it's a pretty damn big IF....I ever buy a new CIG or maybe a stepped Scarab I would paint that Strip down the side.....too cool for old school.

Wow, that's some good speed from a non stepped kv .
I don't think the avs hull 38 does better than that with 500 mercs. Hell, my buddies 33avs has a hard time hitting 80 with 500 mercs.

The silver and black kv on eBay looks really nice. Owner says he gets 61mph out of it with hopped up 420 mercs.

One of the best looking offshore hulls ever in my opinion!

There was a guy out in Clear Lake with an 87' 38KV non Vice edition with BLower motors and he was doing well past 90+ .....I should know since he went past me while I was at 75 MPH....

I had a hard time believing his story about 90+ until I saw it with my own eyes.....

Often wondered what happened to this boat. Haven't seen it in awhile. Always thought it was one of the nicer ones around, though I was never too crazy about the trumpet horns on the deck.
Looks like he did an awsome job on the cabin.

The guy belongs to TOPPS here in Texas, he is from Lake Charles LA, and he sold the Scarab recently, I think he said they were 650 HP a side.

I got SMOKED! I couldn't believe he walked away like that, of course those BLOWN motors cost $$$$$.

Any chance he had ASD8 Arnesons? If so I might have found my old boat, I've been looking for a while. 650/540's NA were in the boat when I sold it. What color was it?

I was too busy fighting the 20 MPH wind and a quirky starboard engine , We were on turn one and it was rough as a bitch trying to maintain position. I eventually lost the engine and had to leave the race course, I saw the Scarab as I was limping in.

That was my Driver, P4-00 Peters & May Formula. He is OK, just a little banged up. The throttleman was thrown from the boat also, but stayed with the boat 'til I got it on the trailer, and another crew member took him to the hospital while I checked the boat out, both were released within hours, and got back home to North FL yesterday, with the boat, trucks etc, no damage to the boat.

Randy, are you suggesting Miami Vice was not on TV in 1979?????:D

Miami Vice is an American television series produced by Michael Mann for NBC. The show became noted for its heavy integration of music and visual effects to tell a story. The series starred Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as two Metro-Dade Police Department detectives working undercover in Miami. It ran for five seasons on NBC from 1984–1989. The USA Network later began airing reruns the next year, in 1990, and actually broadcast an originally unaired episode during its syndication run of the series on January 25, 1990. Unlike standard police procedurals, the show drew heavily... upon 1980s New Wave culture and music. It is recognized as one of the most influential television series of all time. People magazine stated that Miami Vice "was the first show to look really new and different since color TV was invented." Reruns of the series later aired on the FX from 1996-1999. Then in 2006 the cable network TV Land aired episodes for about a year.
