Does anyone have any pictures of this boat? I think it was 65ft and other specs?

Do you think of the one with the helm towering on a pylon a couple of feet above the deck? Should have a rendering of that one somewhere but I can't imagine it was ever built.

Not sure i don't think i have ever seen the boat. do you have picture or drawings?

Had a look in my archive and it seems I mixed up some things. You were right, they planned to use a 65' Thunderchief powered by 2 GM 16cyl. diesels for that transatlantic record attempt. RIK has posted a pic of the prototype in a thread here on sos. I guess the whole 'project' was just a way to promote the new king size Apache. Officially they stopped it because they were too busy building the 41s:rolleyes:

The boat I had in mind was a different American transatlantic project of the same time period (American Clipper).
