Team AMSOIL # 77 Is Declared First Place Winner Of Smokin' The Sound Biloxi, MS. 2010 in OSS Cat Lite Class

June 19, 2010. Bedford, TX: The Offshore Super Series (OSS) Appeals Jury convened on June 17 and Chief Referee, Mike Tomlinson, announced that he was rescinding the penalty assessed against Bob Teague and Paul Whittier of Team AMSOIL. A one minute penalty assessed to the #77 boat for going on the wrong side of day marker #14 in the channel of the Mississippi Sound during Sunday's race last month took Team AMSOIL out of first place. After looking at all the facts and re-watching the video of the race, Tomlinson determined that boat number 388, Team Phoenixparts.com failed to leave a lane for #77 at marker 14.

"OSS General Rule 15, paragraph 7 requires that a boat must be at least 50' ahead of a boat that it has overtaken before it can pull in front of the overtaken vessel. "They did not own the lane with at least 50 feet as required by the OSS Rulebook, therefore Team AMSOIL had no choice but to go to right of the day marker to avoid it." Tomlinson said and continued, "I would personally like to thank everyone that volunteered their time in this matter and for being a part of the appeal process".

The official results of the OSSCL Class from Smokin' the Sound 2010 are,

First Place #77 Team AMSOIL

Second Place #388 Team Phoenixparts.com

Third Place #13 Team Popeye's
