To round out my car collection I have been looking for a GTO to be in the stable with the 442 and the GS 455. Yesterday I purchased this 1971 Goat from the same estate where I found the Countach. The pinstripes will be the first thing to go.

Unlike most of the stuff I buy, this one only needs a minimum of work. I'll probably pick it up this weekend. I'm becoming a real car junkie. I get my kicks buying old cars!

I know, but I'm on boats all the time. For me to spend my spare time working on boats would be like a mailman going for a walk after work.

I know. I'm not a big spoiler fan myself, but I can always remove it down the road if it doesn't grow on me.

I'm getting several boxes and a trunk full of all the original parts that were replaced by this former owner. Maybe the original steering wheel is in good shape or rebuildable.

Thought I might drive it home today. No dice. Battery dead and charging system has no output even with different battery. I'll go back one day this week with the trailer and not take any chances getting stranded on the road. I'm disappointed, but....

But pinstripes are cool and in 1970&1971 they were the thing to add @dealer:seeya:But then again a little over kill on the goat you just purchased!

Progress Report:

The 1971 GTO is now turn-key and going to its first Cruise-In with the Hurricane Chapter of the Pontiac-Oakland Club International, (POCI) on Saturday night July 31 in Ft. Lauderdale. Still haven't had time to sort through the boxes of spare parts that came with it, but I have some intake manifolds, a/c compressor and a stock oil pan for the Pontiac engine if anybody needs them.

Update: Found new acquisition has bad fuel tank. Inside deteriorating and loading-up strainer on pick-up. New tank ordered.

After the new tank is in it goes to the body shop for some small rust areas on the hood and around the rear window where they all rust. I'm going to have them deal with the pinstripes at that time.

I may be adding a 1974 Bricklin with a 401 AMC V-8 to my collection. Anybody know anything about these cars?

Got the Bricklin to my shop today. I will be looking for rotors and calipers, as they are rusted too badly to save. The pneumatic doors aren't opening because one of the lift cylinders is corroded and leaking. The air reservoir tank mountings are rusted off too. I charged the battery and gave it some fresh gasoline. The 401 roared to life and sounded great. Tranny shifted perfectly and steering feels pretty good. Window regulators are rusted solid and I may as well convert to electric. Lights all work including interior. I think the alternator is on borrowed time.

I'll try to take some pictures and post them. Car gets a lot of attention on the road.
