Plans are in the making for the Island Pirates - Treasure Run 2010
The original coordinator of the Fun Run has since retired and a group of us are taking it over... copywright enfringement or not.

Anyway, I can't disclose any details at this time as we are still working them out, but I can tell you that the starting location will not be Sandusky, likely somewhere east of Sandusky.

I can tell you that this run will be unique, not like a typical poker run. Also, since we are still in the planning stages, all ideas will be open for review.

I think Vermillion to Kelley's is likely the plan (with a few stops inbetween). However, I think much of the reason last years run wasn't so successful is becasue it collided with other boating events. Staurday the 26th is the Sandusky Bay Barge Party, and I wouldn't want to compete with that. Last year's Run aligned with the same Barge Party and as a result, many people didn't attend.

yeah - thinking about going to the barge party and staying at kelley's that weekend.

So it looks like we're tossing around either June 26th or July 10th. It seems more poeple are leaning towards June 26th. Also, last year this was an overnight "Fun Run" and attendance was low. This year, I'm considering making it a Poker Run.

Does anyone have any concerns around the format change?

The last weekend of June is when the fun was always held, so it makes sense more are interested in that weekend.

Just a poker run day works. People can decide where they will stay at that point.

Just an FYI.......the Sandusky Barge Party is June 26th. Just throwing that out there. They changed the date from the 3rd week of June to the last week of June.

There's a lot of concern about running a poker run in that region on the same date as the Barge Party. So we've decided that the only available date, in the first half of the season, is July 10th.
I believe we will be patching up all the details soon.

Here's what we're working on now:
1) Departure is out of Vermillion
2) Everyone is asked to join
- Two seperate starts, 1 for Cruisers, 1 for Performance boats
- Three days before the event, the sail boats will start (just kidding)
3) Last stop in Vermillion
4) BajaCleveland (WhoYa) - DJ the after party

None of this is concrete at this time.
There's still a lot of work contacting the clubs, organizing volunteers, authorities, etc.
We also need to define the stops as well. Huron Riverfest is going on. I'm trying to make that a stop, but I don't want to interfere with thier festvities.

Still looking for ideas and help.

I have the stops pretty well worked out...

The Casino is expecting us, and we'll have a a touch-and-go stop in Huron. A land-lover will be there to hand out cards during Huron's River Fest. Then we head back to Vermilion.

We're leaving out of Vermilion July 10th at 10 AM in order to get to the Casino on-time.
