He just finished building this 03 v-rod: Buell light weight wheels, chain drive, pingel shifter, progressive shocks, totally stock motor. He is turning 10.9's in the 1/4 mile. That's my 03. 100th anniversary HD Screaming Eagle limited edition Road King under the cover. You can see it doesn't go out much.

I love motorcycles of all kinds. Currently I have two Suzuki SV650's, and a Honda CRF450x street legal, also with a supermoto set up. I ride the CRF off road, on the ice, and on the road in supermoto and dual sport form.

The yellow SV was wrecked by a friend, so I picked it up cheap for a track bike. That is the track's beginner shirt over my leather suit.

The red SV650 is my everyday bike, in the picture we were setting out on a 250 mile ride that day.

Though the water mark is a dead giveaway, does anyone know where the picture of the red SV650 was taken?

Without a doubt! My dad was pretty big into dirt racing back in the day. One of theese winters I plan on doing a a full resto on his 57 Sportster that he has probably forgotten about, and give it to him as a "thanks dad" birthday present.

He raced in Louisiana this weekend. His first AHDRA event. Qualified for the Sunday race in the 10.90 class. He lost his first race, but ran his best time 10.94. He was still happy. Not bad for a stock small v-rod motor.:sifone:

I went to the open house at Attack Kawi last weekend (It's right down the street from Herring, by the way). 06 Busa that I have just put a turbo on. Dyno'd and got 262 hp at the rear wheel. Lots of fun and also a daily driver. Next one is a shot of a chopper (not mine) that looks almost the same except I have cooler rims and my rear fender goes right down to the pavement. Its not done yet, next month it will be up and running. Last is me on my CR250 doing some ice racing, lots of fun!

What is the wheel base? +4 swingarm, moved the a-arms forward +4? Pretty cool for what started as a Blaster

phragle
04-15-2010, 03:43 PM
swingarm is +2 the new frame is the same length from pivolt bolt to a-arms as a 250R, A-arm mount geometry is the same as a 250r but with more rake. 15" of travel front and back. Motor has a few tricks, aftermarket bigbore cylinder with a cr 250 reedcage, dynoed in at just over 40hp (stock is 15) its apart right now waiting for me to aquir the motivation to do a +4 mm stroke with a long rod and some porting mods.. should put it over 50hp, it weighs within 5 pounds of a stock bike.

I have always wanted to build a 250r geometry banshee for woods racing. In the end it was much cheaper to just buy a 4 stroke 450. Hand built frame, or aftermarket?

phragle
04-15-2010, 09:14 PM
A little bit of stock frame and a lot of cromoloy addition. The old C&J banshees (Doug Roll got his start working there) had honda front geometry and a no link offset shock swingarm. they were probably about the best handling desert quad I have ever riden. Sundahl raced them for years

All these old 250r builds and banshee builds used to be great. Then out came the 450's and IMO obsoleted the 250r. Right now used 250r and trx450 asking prices are equivalent. I'd take a machine 20 years newer any day of the week, since the geometry is almost the same.

As much as I miss the two strokes power delivery, I've grown accustomed to the modern thumper and the tractability that goes with it. I'm a dirt bike person all the way, but I got a chance to ride a decently worked honda trx450 and was extremely impressed. It had a 490 over bore kit, and an extended swing arm. This thing felt like a dirt bike ripping down the trail, if I the laws here weren't as bad as they are I'd own one. Dual sport is the only way to go anymore though.

It's fine as long as you are thinking about what you are doing but as soon as you get comfortable and start riding with your instincts, you end up stomping on the shifter...and then it wants to swap ends:puke::rolleyes::blush5:

Heres my two... the first is an 07 warrior for straight up power and second is my 07 street glide for cruzin'...

Both bikes have big bore kits along with some other "goodies" lol... gotta love the toy's however I think one of them is going to go this fall.... :(

The Yamaha Warrior is what I raced for Team Yamaha 02-04. First 2 in my post above are Warriors. I know how make make good HP on those. 100+hp is easy. I do S Glide motors too but it takes a bit more to get over 100 on those. Nice bikes! And I like your switch plates I installed.

I did the Patrick Racing 110 kit on my warrior... wow.. what a wake up call. Samson ground pounders, big air kit, Power Commander III USB, and some other goodies... The bike just sold last week to a college kid. Sold his R1 for a cruiser lol.... you would $hit if I told you what I got for it!!!!

So you bought some of my switch bezels? Ebay or speedwake? Thanks for the business...

The 110 kit is great. That's in the streetbike I'm wheeling above. We were only allowed 107 in the race bike. I'll try a video link... first attempt at this... This is a backup record run from Norwalk 9.28 was the run before and this was a .3 something backup. The Screaming Eagle V Rod was a no show in the other lane.

Nice video!!! With the warrior having such a long stance I was amazed at how easily I could pull the front end up after the 110 kit... I will miss that bike.

The switch bezels look great! Glad I could help!

I've been meaning to post these pics to this thread for awhile now. Hopefully she still counts as something that fits into the subject.

I stole this thing from a buddy of mine that bought it when he was 17 in high school. (actually his parents bought it for him) Had been looking for one for a couple years when he called me up two years ago. He had no clue what it was worth and took my first stupid offer. When he found out it was worth about 3k more than what I gave him he freaked. Lucky for him I didn't buy it to sell and make money on.

78490Thought I would update my scooter stuff. We just returned from a 6,200 mile adventure. We left Fort Worth at 3 am May 10 and did 1024 miles for the iron butt thingy to get our patch and stuff. We actually hit Loop 820 and I-20 at 3:30 am and we were sitting on our porch at the Larian Motel in Tombstone, Arizona at 7 PM that evening. We made it to Midland/Odessa in 4 hours and 15 minutes and yes...we were hauling ass. We do this every year and if anyone would like to go along on our next adventure...just holler. We dont care what you ride...just something big enough to keep up.

You can see all of our adventures here... https://www.youtube.com/user/HondaGoldwingGL1800 (any questions...just ask) All the videos are arranged by State and year.

For those of you in Arizona or close...ride their road called The Devils Highway 666 (actually highway 191 that runs North & South). This is a ripe road in places and it will make the Dragon's Tail look like a freeway. Devils highway is 103 miles long with over 3000 turns, curves and switchbacks. There are also no guardrails on most of it, so you dont get a chance for a "do-over" if you screw up and go over. There are many places that the fall wont hurt you, but the sudden stop at the bottom is going to screw up the rest of your day. We have been on this road from both directions now and it is great.

We went to Yellowstone this year and you can see what put "bite-marks" on my seat when you get to the video that has BUFFALO on the title. I dont mind saying it...I was pretty nervous. We always carry and I carry a 40 cal. You can see my arm move and I am pulling out my weapon for that just in case. What I didnt see was the ranger car behind me and he saw me pull my weapon. He made a stop at the next hot pool with us and told me that he was glad that I didnt shoot one of the bullalo that was walking along. I told him that I didnt want to shoot it but that if it had started to attack me, I was going to. He laughed and said that a 40 cal would only piss it off and I replied with...then I will piss it off 12 times.
